Penquin Challenge: Dirty Dozen Past and Present

The Dirty Dozen and Dirty Dozen Alumni have started a monthly challenge that is posted on the 20th of each month.  The challenge subject and rules are set and we get to see what everyone comes up with.  If you would like to check out all the entries in this gallery just click on DCP1207 . Here are the rules:

Challenge Focus: Penguins (your main image must be or include a penguin)
Required Element: "Ice" - anything icy - glitter, crystals, etc.
Restricted Element: No use of the color BLUE anywhere on your project or card.

AAAAAKK!  No Blue!  This gave everyone pause.  No blue sky, no blue blue!  I decided early on that I was not going to let it get me down.  Snowy winter skies are gray and so that is what I did.  After stamping and painting the images with reinker, I colored the pond of ice with a gray copic marker and sponged going gray on for the sky.  No big problem.  I like the look.  I wanted the scene to represent a fun snow day for the penguins with a touch of Christmas with the little guys putting a star on top of a snowy tree.  I added snow to everything using a brush and white craft ink and embossed with white embossing powder.  I also added tons of iridescent ice for ice and sparkle.  See rule above.  Anything icy.  I cut the frame with my coluzzle and popped it up on mounting tape.  This was a fun scene to do.
