Decorative Circle Medallion

 

The Technique Lover's Challenge on SCS was to create a decorative circle medallion. You can see a great tutorial here by Becca Stamps. It is so much easier than it looks.

I wanted to use my medallion as a frame for a little snow scene. I used a Rubbernecker KK Original image called The Neighborhood and a tree image from Kittie Kits The Moose is Loose.  I stamped trees with on either side of where the houses would be, masked them off and then stamped the neighborhood image with Brilliance Black. I masked off the houses and then stamped trees in the background. I watercolored the houses with reinker, water and a brush. I sponged in the sky area and then applied * Liquid Applique' and heated to create a snowy winter scene. I used my ever faithful "free" sandwich baggy of dried rice to create the non descript background for the medallion and card base. I used the snowflake Cuttlebug folder to create my border layer.  This was a fun project.  I got a little carried away with Liquid Applique'  but it was fun.  You can click on the photo to see a larger image.

Here a few other fun projects that I did over the weekend.

 

This was for the Ways to Use It challenge to create a project with some type of cracking.  I used Distress Crackle Paint to create the faux wood door panel.  It looks real, doesn't it? The Wreath is from Rubbernecker Winter Holiday Collection.

 

This project was my interpretation of the Inspiration Challenge on SCS. The inspiration art was from artist Don Li-Leger. His artwork is wonderful. I used Rubbernecker Kittie Kits The Moose is Loose and two different snow images and pine sprig from the Rubbernecker Winter Holiday Collection.

This project was for the Limited Supply Challenge to use a stamp or stamps and disguise them as something else.  Sometimes you just have to have a good sense of humor and step out of your comfortable box. That is what I did with this card. I used a pumpkin, leaf and gourd image to create a turkey sitting on the ground.  I know...I know....you can barely tell what it is.  I used the same images and created a pumpkin patch scene behind the turkey for interest.  I put a close up below so you could see the image better.  Hey.....I tried. The stamps are from Stampin' Up! Autumn Harvest.
