Warm Bell Flowers and Tutorial

Good Thursday morning. My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Ways To Use It Challenge to use warm or cool colors.  I had the red and white card base already on my desk so thought I would cover it with a stem of the new Dee’s Bell Floral 1 die set done in red, white and yellowish green. I took a few step by step photos to show how I formed and assembled the flower.

I started by cutting all the pieces of the flower, leaves and stem.

1a

I formed the flowers pieces with my stylus and molding pad.

1b

I formed the leaves with the loop tool.

1

I attached the flowers to the stem with glossy accents, alternating them so they would appear to grow naturally.

2

Here’s a closer view.  I attached the two center flowers and then attached the three outer flowers over them.

3

I attached the leaves by starting at the bottom and tucked additional leaves in behind.

4

I attached a single layer of mounting tape to the bottom of the stem and 3 layers to the upper stem to attach to the card base.  The three layers allowed the stem of flowers to stand up away from the base so it wouldn’t look too flat.  Did that make sense?

5

I attached rolled glue dots underneath a few of the flowers to hold in place.

The next time I play with this set I will use white cardstock and color the flowers with PanPastel.  But I really like the boldness of the red, white and green.

Bell Flowers and Blog Candy

Good Saturday morning.  I have a floral project to share with you today made using Dee’s Distinctively Bell Floral 2 set paired with the Floral Leaf Set 4 and Bell Floral Stem 1 and framed using the Sizzix Ornate Oval over the embossed layer made using the Corners and Lattice set.

I started by cutting out the frame, bell flowers, stems and leaves. I embossed the white background layer and attached to the card base.  I attached the frame with mounting tape.  The bell flowers were cut using white cardstock and I colored them with violet 470.5 PanPastel and a mini applicator. I formed them lightly with my stylus and molding pad.  Although the leaves are already scored I scored lightly with the leaf tool on the leaf pad to add dimension.

I attached the bell flowers and leaves to the stems with Crafter’s Pick glue alternating to create a natural looking stem of flowers. I really love how soft and flowing the flowers look.  I attached the arrangement to the card base with mounting tape and finished with a multi loop bow. Here’s a closer look.

The flower colors is deeper than the frame and at first it troubled me a little but the more I look at it the better I like it.  These flowers just scream old-fashioned vintage to me.

I did it again!  I opened my brand new order from Ellen’s this morning and realized I accidentally ordered two of the new Poppystamps Bailiwick Background.  I’m sure Ellen would let me return it but I think it is lots more fun to share with you. Leave me a comment by Thursday, Jan 16 at 5:00 pm to qualify for a random drawing.  Good luck!

Snowy Night and Snow Covered Tree Tutorial

Good Tuesday morning.  I have another snowy cottage scene to share with you today and this time it was made with Tina Wenke’s Holiday Card Making Paper.

The house and trees were cut from designer paper and the roof and snowy ground was cut from white cardstock.  The sky background is another of the wonderful coordinating papers in the pack.  I thought it was so pretty for night snow scene.

I attached all the pieces together and mounted to the card base.  I applied glossy accents all over the roof and trees and applied flower soft on everything.  I love the softness of the snow of the roof.

I have had several people ask me for a step by step tutorial on how I put the tree sections together with mounting tape. I think these are pretty self explanatory and will help.

1

I put a small piece of mounting tape on the top of the section.

2

Attach the sections together to build the tree.

3

Once the tree is together turn it over.

4

Apply a strip of mounting tape to the back of the tree so it will stand out a little from the card base for added dimension.

Thanks for stopping by today. If you haven’t seen my anniversary blog candy post be sure and stop by for a chance to win a nice prize package and to help me celebrate.

White on White Snow Covered Tree and Leaping Deer

Good Thursday morning.  I have a clean and simple white on white project to share with you today.  I like adding a touch of color on an all white card.  I broke odd number design rule on this card by using only two pops of color instead of one or three but I still like the outcome.

This is a very simple and fast card to make.  I popped the embossed Christmas tree base layer up on mounting tape for a touch of dimension and interest. The tree sections were assembled and attached with mounting tape and attached to the card base with mounting tape. The deer was attached with more mounting tape so it would stand out in front of the tree.

The red bows and pine were the final finishing touch. I thought the tree and deer looked so pretty in front of the embossed trees and snowflakes.

Framed Tree and Deer

Good Wednesday morning.  I have a simple project to share with you today.  I almost didn’t post it as my husband said he didn’t like it much.  I figured….what the hay…I made it so I may as well post it.  LOL!

KC Dee's Large Snow Covered Tree 1 right
I really like this new Sizzix Fancy Square Frame set.  I thought a big red frame against the white would create a great backdrop for the tree.  Actually that was all I planned for this card but it was so stark and felt empty. The deer were an after thought but thought they brought a little more interest to the card.KC Dee;s Large Snow Covered Tree 1 left

I mounted the frame with mounting tape. I formed the trees lightly with a stylus and mat and then assembled attaching each section with glossy accents.  I applied a light edge of liquid applique around all the outer branches of the tree and tapped lightly with my finger to spread the liquid out before heating. I sponged brown ink on the deer, cut them apart to design in the scene and attached them with rolled glue dots. The finishing touch was the tiny red bow on the top of the tree.KC Dee's Large Snow Covered Tree 1 center

OK.  So some days are diamonds and some days are stone. Does anyone remember that song?  I guess I am showing my age.

Have a great day and thanks for coming by today.  Remember the deadline to leave a comment for my blog candy opportunity is 5:00 pm today EST.
