Good Wednesday morning. I have a snowy winter cottage scene to share with you today. It is a miniature version of the large Christmas Lodge card I made back in September. The Winter Cottage and Snow Covered Tree are both new Dee’s Distinctively Dies made by Elizabeth Craft Designs. I fell in love with both of these dies when I first saw them on Ellen Hutson’s. I knew I had to have them. This is the small tree and cottage and there is a larger version of both as well.
The pieces of the cottage and trees are very easy to put together. I die cut the cottage in kraft and sponged with brown ink. When I was finished I thought it looked dull so I painted lightly with reinker mixed water. I cut the roof and window sections out of dark red. I love the contrast of the red with the brown and artichoke green.
I covered the roof of the house and the ground area with liquid applique and added touches to the trees as well. I think having snow just the tips of the branches softens the tree. I attached the windows and door with glossy accents and attached the roof with rolled up glue dots.
I attached the snowy ground piece to the card base first with a piece of mounting tape and then applied adhesive to the house and tucked it in behind. I attached the trees around the house with glossy accents and mounting tap.
I added tiny piece of pine boughs to the windows and door and applied light touches of liquid applique. I created tiny falling snowflakes with liquid applique to soften the sky area and attached a tiny star to the front tree. I finished by adding yellow stickles to the windows and diamond stickles to the tops of the pine boughs for sparkle. I wish the photos could show how sweet this really is. What fun dies to play with. I may have to take stock in Marvy since I love using so much liquid applique.
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you are having a great week.
