Good Thursday morning. Welcome to the Impression Obsession design team blog hop. Our challenge today was to create a project with a gift theme. I love the images in the Gift of Love set and love the old-fashioned potted tree and brown paper wrapped packages.
For my project I used Gift of Love, Cover a Card Gingham, Circle Shaker Frames, Mini Rectangle Tags 2 and Twig Wreath
I stamped the image on watercolor paper using pumice stone distress ink. I lightly painted the image with a brush and reinkers mixed with water. When painting an image stamped with water based ink you can keep the integrity of the image by not allowing your brush to get too wet. This technique allows you to create the softer appearance of a watercolor.
I used a tiny brush to paint the fine lines of the pine needles. To paint the boxes and pot I started by lightly painting the inside of images with plain water being careful not to get to close to blur the lines. I lightly added dotas of reinker to the lined areas of the image and with my brush used the water alread on the paper to move the ink around to create shading. I sponged yellow ink around the scene to highlight the image and then went over some of the lines with a pumice stone marker to add back definition. Here’s a closer view.
I framed the image and attached to the card base. I added pine branches and a multi loop gingham bow to carry on the country Christmas theme. The Gift of Love tag was the finishing touch.
