Good Sunday morning. I have a little blog candy to share with you today. Ellen Hutson encloses a full yard of lovely satin ribbon with every order. (I believe it is May Arts) I think it so sweet. I have lots and lots of these little packages of ribbon saved up and thought it would be fun to share 15 of them as blog candy. Leave me a comment telling me your favorite way to use ribbon. As for me, I love making multi loop bows. You will have until 5:00 pm on Wednesday, Dec 5 to comment.
Speaking of Ellen have you had the opportunity to check out the 12 Tags of Christmas series that started yesterday at The CLASSroom?
I guess I have gotten on a see thru window kick but since I still had all the stuff on my desk from yesterday’s post I thought I would have fun making another one. This project is made with the Small Madison Arched Window die. I thought the white window would look pretty layered over the Tina Wenke designer paper.
I covered the front of the card base with the designer paper and then using the window for a template cut the opening for the window with my craft knife. I cut two windows, one for the front and one for the inside opening. I mounted the front window with mounting tape for dimension. The inside is finished with the second window to cover the rough cut edge.
I punched out a 3/4” circle and attached the pine to it to create the wreath. I cut several pine branches and trimmed off the bottom sections and used only the top three sprigs of each piece to form the tiny wreath. It’s only 1 3/4”.
I didn’t have a tiny enough ribbon to match the designer paper so I cut a thin strip of dark red paper, softened it by scrapping both sides of it up and down over the blunt edge of my scissors. This made the strip of paper more pliable so I could make a multi loop bow with it. I used another strip of the paper to go around and hold the bow together and glued it tightly on the back with glossy accents. I added lots of tiny flowers made from the same paper as the bow and attached the wreath to the window frame with glossy accents. This is such a simple card but I just love it. I am a nut ball about creating miniature wreaths with the windows.
Check out the tutorial section of my blog if you would like to see step by step photos of how I made this see thru window and mini wreath tutorials.
Thanks for stopping by. Don’t forget to leave a comment for a chance to win the ribbon blog candy. Have a great day.

Mooie kaart ! Ik gebruik lint om strikjes te verwerken op mijn kaarten of gewoon om een lijntje te leggen.

Love those ribbon packages from Ellen Hutson. Your card is another winner. Love your wreaths on your cards. So creative. I use ribbon a lot on my cards by making single and double bows. I also use it across a card and glue underneath the top piece of cardstock. I use ribbon to weave through baskets, too. Ribbon is one of my passions along with rubber stamping. It always adds such class to a card.

Your cards are always such an inspiration to all of us. Love the ribbons. One can never have enough....except that one time when you just don't have the right color or shade. Kind of like what happened to you!

I love all kinds of ribbon and collect it.
1.Butterfly wings: I like wider ribbon for butterfly wings: (make the body w/ wire twisting to form the shape) Use beads in the body and leave long ends for the antenna)(try with wire edged see thru ribbon) Hot glue ribbon wings to the wire butterfly 2.Pretty petal bows: Accordion fold a piece of ribbon that's at least a yard or longer. Hold together tightly & prick using needle and thread up thru bottom, Pull taut & knot. Spread "petals" apart. Hang. (this is the same as paper flowers but uses ribbon. 3.Ruffle it using the above directions. 4. glue two lengths of ribbon in an X to create a pocket. 5. Use your cast offs for photo corners. 6. Use for pulls on scrapbook pocket art, borders and more. Whew...

Call me a simpleton, but I love just single or double looped poofy bows. So long as they are poofy. This goes along with my clean and simple style.

Thank you for sharing another window card. Your art is an inspiration and I have attempted some of your techniques in my card making. I, too, like to add ribbon bows to wreaths.

I am loving your window cards! Your wreaths always come out so much prettier than mine do, but I am definitely getting better!!! I love that you can see the reflection of the wreath!
Hugs, antonella :-)
P.S. You inspired a friend of mine with her Christmas cards last year and I was one of the fortunate recipients!!!

This one on the colored background is just as pretty as the white on white card. How sweet of you to share. I love making bows. I haven't perfected the multi loop like you have.

I love your window cards. They are always so festive. Another beautiful one! I use ribbon on cards a lot. Usually as a spacer or accent. I do make bows sometimes but since I make a lot of cards for Operation Write Home I don't use a lot of bows since dimension is one of the things we don't add a lot. Happy Sunday!

I love seeing all your beautiful Christmas cards! Thanks for the chance to win some goodies-I don't think you can ever have enough ribbon! I like using ribbon to add loops, bows, or knot embellishments to my cards. Happy Holidays!

Your window creations are always so beautiful - I never get tired of seeing your special wreaths. I use ribbon on many of my cards, mostly just as simple bows (haven't mastered the multi-loop ones yet) or wrapping around the cardstock and it is fun to have many colors of ribbon ! Thanks for sharing !

Kitty you cost me sooo much money in dies I see your cards and love them ...I've been making Christmas tags and used the ribbon to attach the tags ..such a fun time of the year ..Love DD

I'm contemplating which one I like the most - the plain white on white which is so elegant or this pretty one with the lovely DP where the window shows up to well against the darker background and I have come to the conclusion that I like them both equally. Your wreaths, against the "glass" window look soooo lovely! Hugs Lesley

I love your window cards. Well, all your cards really. I love using ribbon for bows or just a strip across a card for texture. I believe I found your blog while searching for bow-tying tutorials. Your instructions are so helpful, but I definitely still need practice. Thanks for a chance to win such lovely ribbon.

Beautiful card, as always, Kitty!
I have tons of those ribbon packs from Ellen Hutson, too, and always love to ooh and aah at the gorgeous colors she sends with my orders! I recently learned how to make the double-loop bow, and that is probably my favorite thing for those gorgeous satin ribbons - their double-sided color works wonderfully for them, I think!
Thanks for the chance to win some more of the great ribbon! :0)
Thanks so much for joining us this week for the Catch the Bug Challenge! Hope to see you again!

Kittie, I love your window cards, your tutorials and your fabulous bows. I love to use ribbon, but keep to single or double bows. I do not do bows easily! I like to use ribbon to cover paper patches and booboos! I'd love to add even more ribbon to my stash!! OMGoodness......

Kittie - your cards are so beautiful. I love how you share your talent. Thank you! And you're sharing your stash too! I love to add touches of ribbon to my cards, either as strips of fabric or lovely bows.

Love your window cards! Thank you for your detailed instructions. I make bows using a fork. Using a fork makes my loops even and it is easy to tie. I can do single loops or multi-loops. However since my fork is one size my small bows are all one size.

I simply adore all the wonderful window cards you create. They feel like home to me.
I use ribbon quite often on my cards to create a border or cover a paper seam. I also make single bows. I'm going to check out your tutorial on making muliple loops right now! Thanks for always inspiring.

I can barely make a looped bow with ribbon...how you did it with cardstock I will never know! Such a cute card Kittie...love your through the window cards!

Love bows on cards and pages. Generally I make 2 little ears and tie them in a knot. It is how I taught our son to tie his shoe laces and it still works for me. Love the intricate pieces that create such mind blowing cards. Wow1

Just a quick question. I love all the see through window cards and I was wondering, where do you put the inside sentiment? I have tried putting it around the spot where the window is but it really looks a little strange. Does anyone have any thoughts?
I love putting ribbon on my cards. It just adds that finishing touch. My favorite is a simple bow.

I'm a ribbonaholic!! I love working with ribbon. My favorite way of using them is making flowers using a sticky base and looping the ribbon. I just love making flowers. Thank you for sharing your stash and for the chance at winning it. :)

Another beautiful window card Kittie. I am going to be spending my afternoon making some for special friends.
I have a large collection of ribbons stored in wonderful ribbon boxes that I bought in Michaels. I like to make tiny bows for my cards but I also used to make lots of ribbon hair accesories for young girls ( so much fun) my daughter had a different one for every day of the year! I used to sell them when I lived in England but as my daughter is all grown now I don't make them as often!
Have a great Sunday!

Good afternoon, Kittie, Another beautiful Christmas window. You are so creative, making the wreath the way you did. and that paper bow, is gorgeous. you would never know it was paper. well done.
As for ribbon, I love to do two loop bows as well, unless it would be to big for image and card, then adjust size.they add so much for cards. At the present I am putting bows on book marks for gift inserts. Just love that special touch of elegance. ......thanks for the opportunity of candy, welcomed this time of year for sure..... have a good day.

I love, love, love your window cards. I appreciate your tutorials as well. I think I may try to make one or two of the wreaths and see how they look on my cards. I like to put ribbon on my cards, usually at the bottom, and using a two step method, using my Bow-Easy.

I have just been checking out your tutorials and decorated windows - fantastic work. I may have to try some wreaths on tags / cards.
Elegant bows are the thing I like best with ribbon.

I mostly use ribbon to cover the seam where two different types of paper meet on a card. I sometimes add a bow.
I love seeing your window cards. I have made a few using some of your wonderful ideas.
Thanks so much!!

Its not a gift without a touch of ribbon, I cannot leave any store that supplies ribbon without making a purchase. I love to mix a couple of shades to make a bow have that wow factor

I love this card, love the see through window and love that you made the ribbon out of card stock. You are a true artist. I really like to use ribbon, but since I am not as talented/experienced as you, I usually tie my ribbon around a card layer with a simple knot or bow. Ribbon always adds a festive dimensional touch.

Hi Kittie,
What a beautiful card. I love that Tina Wenke paper - the small pattern are great for cards. I also love ribbon, too and was always bow-challenged until I picked up a great bow making tool (Craf-Dee-Bowz) at a show a couple of years ago. Now I can make bows of all sizes and use more ribbon! Yay for me!
Thanks for sharing all your wonderful inspiration!

Love your Card Kittie! Even though I don't have any of the window dies, they are on my wish list. i adore what you do with them. Very creative to make the bow with paper! I love using ribbons on my cards. This time of year I like to do Holiday type loop bows (hard to explain). They are Horizontal. Thanks for the great blog candy offer. Hugs Lori R.

I guess I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to ribbon because my fav way to use it is to highlight it by tying it around the card, finishing it with a small bow or knot. IMO this usually adds so much to any card. But I am so enjoying reading all of your readers comments about how they use ribbon. Now all I have to do is win this blog candy so I can try everything out!
Posted by: kathy amstutz | December 03, 2012 at 09:24 AM
that little wreath is so sweet and such pretty paper, the paper bow looks like real ribbon!
I think I use more knots in my ribbon then I do bows and I use it to cover when I use two seprate papers, it covers the seam nicely!
Posted by: conniecrafter | December 03, 2012 at 09:48 AM
Thanks for the chance on the blog candy. I like to use ribbon as a horizontal boarder. I am not that great at tying bows.

Fabulous card as all yours are, Kitty! I love using ribbon on my cards, as strips around them, simple knot bows and fluffy regular ones, too.

Kittie,
Love the see through window cards, this one is beautiful, and of course who does not love the tiny wreaths!! I hope to make one of these today. Ribbon and ribbon from May Arts is the best!! I love ribbon, don't know if there is a favorite way or not, love making the double bows, I have a wood bow maker, similar to the one designed by Becca, from Amazing grace, my dear brother made it for me and I love making bows!! But I use ribbon for everything, tags, gluing on card. I also love how you, made the bow out ofcard stockk, so very inventive, and you must have the patience of a saint!! Thanks for everything, and also for thegiveawayy, and the possible chance of winning.
Have a great week.

Kittie, another great window and wreathe! I don't know you keep coming up with new ideas. Ribbon is a must-have on most of my cards. My favorite way to use is to make a bow on my fingers. I also love the new ribbon threader die from Spellbinders Create A Card.

Lovely card, as always! My favorite way to use ribbon on a card is to make a pretty bow. I also sometimes use a strip of ribbon as an accent depending on the design of the card. And, if it works with the design of the card, sometimes a strip of ribbon is just the right thing to disguise a "seam" when I need to extend my dry embossing if my cardstock is larger than the embossing folder and the design on the folder doesn't want to line up exactly for an even flow.
