Good Saturday morning. I have a fun reindeer project to share with you today. I really loved it until I added the little trees and snow to the frame. Do you ever add embellishments to a project because you know it needs a little extra something only to wish you hadn’t when you are finished? LOL! That is how I feel about the little trees.
I cut the tree border and colored the trees with markers. I cut two more smaller snow layers to attach to the snow border to create dimension for the deer. I cut six deer and sponged them with brown ink. I cut a frame to pop up over the scene.
I created falling snow on the blue card base with small dots of liquid applique and heated. I attached the layered snow on the base and then mounted the frame over it. I attached the first three reindeer with glossy accents and rolled up glue dots and then attached the metallic twine around their necks and attached the end of the twine under the frame. I repeated the same process for the second row of reindeer. Even though there is no fog I couldn’t resist adding a red 1/6” circle punch to the front reindeer’s nose so he could guide the team and Santa’s sleigh. Here’s a little closer view.
The red frame looked so plain so I added the trees and snow. I was disappointed with the outcome and almost didn’t post this but thought the cute team of reindeer made up for it.
I wanted to mention a tool that I use day after day and have failed to mention or link in my posts. A few years ago I put the Teflon bone folder on my Christmas wish list for my husband and he got it for me. It is such a wonderful tool and glides over the folded cardstock so smoothly and leaves no sheen behind. You know the sheen I am talking about….right? May I suggest you put this tool on your wish list if you don’t already have one. It is definitely a must have for your daily card making.
Thanks for looking in today. I hope you have a great weekend.

I think you are being too critical of your card. I like the trees you added to the red frame and agree that it might have been plain without them. I love this card and think you did a wonderful job. I can relate to the "knowing when to stop" with the embellishments, however. Happens to me a lot. LOL I never heard of the teflon bone folder, but I'll check it out. I've seen that sheen before. I found a tutorial a while back that suggested rubbing wax paper over the cardstock before scoring to aid in smoother creases, no cs cracking and no bone folder marks.

I do not think the trees on your frame are 'too much'. I think they add dimension and just the right finishing touches. It is beautiful ! Thanks for sharing !

I like the trees. They are a bit bigger than the ones in your background so that adds depth to your cute scene. And I know that you mean by the sheen. I try to crease on the back of the card in case it's too obvious - but then I always have to see how well I folded and choose the best side for the front. Or I add a layer.

Good Morning Kittie, Not to worry regarding the trees, in front. Actually I think they give the feeling of depth, like the deer are in the middle of the forest. It adds to the frame. love the idea of how you attached the deer and reins, good idea with rolled glue dots. Rudolph, looks cute. If concerned, why not add a Merry Christmas sentiment written in applique?
For, those that may have a scor-pal the bone folder is included, otherwise it well worth the gift... Makes a smooth finish. Thanks for your inspiration and this lovely card.... joy everyday.....have a good day.

Truth is, I like the trees on the frame. The rest of the card is so well designed and cute that it can carry them. What amazing talent you have

Well Kittie, I just love those trees on the frame too, the whole card is adorable! I definately know the feeling of not liking an added extra though, I just added snowflakes over the front of a card that I thought was way too plain and immediately regretted it. So I painstakingly peeled them all off really slowly, but luckily they barely left a mark and it added to the slightly distressed look of the card anyway! whew! The recipient loved the card!

Kittie,
Your cards are always fantastic and this is no exception! I agree with the others that the trees mounted to the frame add a feeling of depth. The reindeer team is adorable and I love the snow. As always thank you for sharing your amazing talent!

I love the little trees...don't know why you don't like them...they are cute and really add to the look of the solid red frame. Awfully cute reindeer too Kittie.

You did this card so masterfully and wonderfully, Kittie. I just so love the two rows of reindeer tied together with the twine. So cute. Thanks for sharing.

I ran across a tip the other day that if you adhere an embellishment or card panel and then need to remove it, take your heat tool and apply heat to the taped area and it will release quite easily....she was using tape runner, so I don't know if it would work with liquid glues, etc. It made sense to me and wish I had thought of it myself.

Hi, I just had to leave a note to say that I really enjoy your projects and I especially like any of them that you make with the deer.
I don't have any of these dies that you use but i do have a cricut so shall work with these and see what I can come up with.
Most of the cards i make go to make other people feel more encouraged and some of these I know will work. This is the first time I have left you a comment but thought that I should tell you how work inspires me. Thanks for this.
