Good Saturday morning. I hope you enjoyed the Dare To Get Dirty challenge projects that I shared with you this week. I had lots of fun with them.
My project today was made with the new Memory Box Merry Christmas die and paired with the Poppystamps Blooming Poinsettia and Impression Obsession Pine Branch.
The Merry Christmas die is perfect for making a fast and easy holiday card. It just one cut and pop it onto your card front with mounting tape for dimension. You could chose to embellish it with just about anything you want. I chose to use a poinsettia and pine because they pop perfectly against the all white background and still allow the die cut sentiment to be a major focal point.
I cut the poinsettia sections using white cardstock, colored them with my Pan Pastel, formed them using my accessory tool kit, sprayed them with a fixative and assembled using glossy accents. I added a drop of glossy accent to the center of the flower and inserted a tiny bit of leaf green Flower Soft for a natural look. I cut and formed a few pieces of the pine branch and attached to the card base using glossy accents and then attached the poinsettia with glossy accents. You can check out my Poinsettia tutorial if you would like to see step by step photos of how I form the petals and assemble the flower. It is done with a different poinsettia die set but it is the same concept.
I wanted to show you a side view of the flower and branches so you could see the dimension. You can also see that the white cardstock is showing on the edges of my petals. I could have solved that problem by sponging the pan pastel onto all the petal edges had I noticed it before I had assembled the whole card. Lesson learned for next time.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful, restful and creative weekend.

Beautiful card, Kittie......how do you mail a card with so much dimension? Or even if you handed the card to someone....would it fit in an envelope? I have always had to use a "puffy" envie if I'm mailing and, of course, that means extra postage....Thx, Susan

BTW...in reference to the above post....I bought most everything for this project this morning...whether I can get it into an envelope or not!! ;-) It would be beautiful just attached to a present or bag!

Kittie, this is an amazingly beautiful card. I've seen others use alphabet dies for this technique, but believe me it looked a lot more difficult. So nice to know there's a die that does this now. This Christmas card has really got a Wow factor!

Susan, I use a Crystal Clear Box placed in padded envelopes to mail. If I am hand delivering I just put it in a Crystal Clear Box and tie a ribbon to make it look like a gift. Here is a link to the boxes I use. They are inexpensive and make the card a gift. http://www.ellenhutson.com/servlet/the-2195/Crystal-Clear-Boxes%2C-A2%2C/Detail?affiliate_no=29
Check out my Christmas Wreath post on my blog to see photos of my card in the box. Here is the link: http://kittiekraft.typepad.com/kittiekraft/2012/11/christmas-wreath.html
I hope this helps.

Good Morning, Kittie, Love this elegant Christmas card. thank you for the connection to the Crystal-boxes. I like that idea as I mail many around the world. I also used your tutorial idea of the card stock strip around the flower and put into the padded envelope and that works well too. I am going to use the crystal-box next time. ,,,,have a good day.

Simply stunning card, Kittie. Love the "Merry Christmas" die from Memory Box - I've added it to my shopping cart. Can't wait to start into my Christmas card construction.
