Impression Obsession “Let’s Hear It For The Boys” Design Team Challenge

Good Thursday morning and welcome to the Impression Obsession “Let’s Hear it for the Boys” design team challenge.

For my project I used the Classic Truck image paired with the Grass Border and Leafy Branch 2.

I had such a wonderful time water coloring this image using my waterbrush and Distress Ink reinkers. There is lots of scenery in the background to color but the real fun for me was to make the truck look as old and rusty as possible.

I painted the whole truck with a light layer of blue and then shaded with darker blue. I heat dried completely before moving on to the step of adding the rust.

3 Dry Brush Wiped on Pad

I added rust by brushing a dry brush over the ink pad to add just enough ink to apply to the image using a stipple motion. I continuously went back to the ink pad to gather more ink on the brush. The dry brush stipple technique allows the rust color to be layered over the blue instead of instead of washed into it making it murky. I hope that made sense. Here’s a closer view.

OK. So I know this is a guy card but I couldn’t resist adding a few tree branches to the frame since there is a huge tree trunk in the background scene.

Victorian Framed Rose and Blog Candy Winner

Good Wednesday morning. My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Technique Lovers Challenge to make a card with a framed opening with the main focal point on the inside of the card.

I look forward to seeing your blog every time you post. Your flowers are outstanding. Would love to win the rose or the dogwood or the daisy or any of the others. I have the tiny lily and that is the extent of my collection. Just ordered pan pastels to color with, now I just need the dies!

I die cut the frame layer using Sizzix Border, Label, Medallion and Key set and created a double matted frame opening using Spellbinders Classic Ovals. I applied versa to the inner oval frame with my versa marker and embossed with gold embossing powder. I cut the frame opening on the card base and attached the the frame using mounting tape.

I cut the My Favorite Things Rolled Rose and Leafy Flourish and applied versa marker around the edges and embossed with gold embossing powder. I assembled the rose, rolled back the petals, formed the leaves with my molding pad and large stylus and attached to the inside card base using glossy accents.

I wanted the rose and foliage to have touches embossed gold to match the frame. I really like how this turned out even though it was a strange card to get a good photograph of in the standing position. Happy Holidays

Good Sunday morning. My project today is very similar to one I made last week found here using the Memory Box Merry Christmas sentiment die. I loved the contrast of the white die cut letters against the bright red background. I thought a bright pink background would look just as pretty and made with the Happy Holidays die sentiment. Here’s what I came up with.

I die cut the sentiment and attached it to the card base with mounting tape.

I die cut the poinsettia, colored the petals with red Pan Pastel to add depth, formed them using the large stylus and molding pad from the accessory tool kit and assembled using glossy accents. I cut and formed the pine branch and attached to the base with glossy accents. I attached the the poinsettia in place with glossy accents. I added touches of glossy accents to the flower center and lightly sprinkled it with green flower soft.

CLASSroom Sneak Peek and Blog Candy

Good Friday morning. I am excited to be the guest designer at The CLASSroom today. Here is a sneak peek of my project made using Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s Mini Daisy and Wheelbarrow and Watering Can. I have also shared step by step photos showing how I created my flower.

Luminescent Candelabra

Good Wednesday morning. I have a clean and simple Christmas project to share with you today made with the new Memory Box Luminescent Candelabra paired with the Mini Holly Leaves, Martha Stewart Branch Punch and tiny poinsettias made with the EK Success Daisy and Petunia set.

I started by cutting and assembling a double matted frame and attaching it to the card base with mounting tape. I attached the candles to the candelabra with glossy accents and attached to the card base with rolled glue dots.
