Good Tuesday morning. I have a snowy deer scene to share with you today made with the Deer Trio 2 and Fir Tree set. I love the deer set and went searching on Google for snowy deer photos for inspiration. I posted a few below.
I loved this precious fawn showing all of it’s white spots.
Here’s what I came up with.
I made a bendi fold card a few days ago and loved the dimension accomplished with the bowed out layers. I thought I would try adding dimension to my A2 card by creating one bowed layer of ground snow. I cut two white layers with my deckle scissors, crimped them with my wave crimper and attached to the card base. I cut a third layer 6 3/4 inches wide, scored at 1/2 inch on each end and crimped. I folded the ends back at the score line, applied adhesive to the back of each fold. I placed the left folded tab on the back side of the card base and then attached the right. The 1/4 inch difference in size the size of the snow layer and card front was just the right amount of space to allow for the slight bow. I tried to get a good shot of it from the side.
I applied color to the deer using a small dauber. I like using the small sponge to apply shades of color rather than trying to use a marker. I dab the color on and then rub lightly with the sponge to create a smooth and softer look as well as build contrast.
I used a tiny tipped brush to apply the spots of white paint on the fawn. I think it add another element of softness to the baby.
I cut the trees and applied Liquid Applique on them and smoothed it out lightly with my finger before heating. I like the snow covered tree and think it softens the scene.
I attached the larger trees to the card base using mounting tape. I arranged the deer and smaller trees on the layers to create a natural scene and attached using glue dots, ARG adhesive and mounting tape. I like having the trees in front of portions of the deer and especially love the fawn standing in front of the little tree. Here’s a closer view.
I really love how this turned out. Creating snowy nature scenes on card fronts is one of my favorite things to do. I grew up out in the country in West Virginia and it was common to see deer stepping out of the woods in to the fields around our home. This brings back lots of wonderful memories.
NO HUNTING ALLOWED!!
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Oh my gosh...gorgeous card! We see deer all the time in our woods and walking down the road by us. Your little spotted deer is so cute! I love when they are in spots. They have such super soft fur at that point. I have tons of photos from deer in our back yard and woods. My husband always jokes that I've shot more deer than he has...I have over 500 photos just in the first 6 months after we moved in.

Love this set. I always cut the antlers off the smaller one so then it looks like a family of a buck, doe and fawn.
