Good Saturday morning. As you know I am in love with Susan Tierney Cockburn’s die sets and it was Susan who introduced me to the wonders of PanPastel. My project today was made using Susan’s Poinsettia set and her Conservatory Window set and I have an additional set of each to offer to you for a blog candy gift.
All you have to do be entered into the random drawing is leave a comment telling me whether you prefer creating your projects with stamps, dies or a combination of both. You will have until 5:00 pm on Friday, November 8th to comment and the winner will be announced next Saturday morning.
I cut the window die twice, one for the card front and one to finish the inside for my see thru window. I used the inside lines of the window die as a template and drew an outline to follow for cutting out the window. I attached the window to the card front with mounting tape and used ATG adhesive to attach to the inside opening. Check out my tutorial if you would like to see step by step photos of cutting out and finishing the window.
Next I cut out the flower and leaves and scored in the stem and vein lines using the leaf pad and leaf tool. I wanted my poinsettia to be a little smaller so I could pair it with the window so I only used the four smaller petals for the flower and the largest petal for the leaves. I had fully intended to use the stamen and Susan’s Garden yellow paper pen for the flower center but I totally messed it up and almost ruined my flower. Ugh! It was late and I was too tired so I pulled it off and just used flower soft for the center.
After scoring all the pieces I colored them with PanPastel, formed them with my tweezers and assembled the flower using crafter’s pick. I used white cardstock for both the petals and leaves because I like that it allows lighter and darker shades of color. You can see Susan’s tutorial for assembling the flower here. You can see a couple of my tutorials coloring both flowers and leaves with PanPastel here.
I cut the pine branch, applied PanPastel color and lightly formed them with the molding pad and stylus. I attached the pine and poinsettia to the window with glossy accents. I know the flower and window are not in perspective but I just love the open window with the floral design. There are no rules in art that can’t be broken…..right!

As always...you continue to amaze me. I love working with both dies and stamps. But it seems that I usually keep them isolated to themselves most of the time. Not sure why...but I try not to. Thank you so much for the opportunity to win. I've been wanting the poinsettia for quite some time...but with the floods we had here in Colorado a couple of months ago...money has been so so tight. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

Your card is stunning!!! I adore that Poinsettia and the window die has been in my wish list since I first saw it. I adore Die's and use them on almost every card I make. I do like stamping too but whats a stamp without a Die! lol

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..... As I am browsing the net for inspiration for cards, I came to your blog, call it destiny. Lol
I am still new to card making but I am sure that I shall favor dies combined with stamping for sentiments as well.
Thank you for the lovely images of your projects and for the tutorials.

I make my cards with mostly cutting dies, but, I have started to purchase dies with matching stamps. I just happen to like things that coordinate. I have been receiving your emails for a while now and LOVE your cards. NEVER have I seen a bad on in the bunch. I especially like how you list the supplies you use for each project. I have yet to purchase PanPastels but have heard and seen many tutorials about them. I'm putting them on my Christmas list. Thank you for the inspiration and joy you bring in your cards.

Oh Kittie...I LOVE this card. I have become a fan of Susan's flowers through inspiration here on your blog! I am super excited to see the poinsettia version of these dies...gonna be so much fun to work with! Thanks for all the inspiration - I always can't wait to come visit your blog and get a fresh idea for when I go into my own studio to play! I think I probably prefer projects that combine dies and stamps....mainly because it gives me almost unlimited possibilities! But honestly, any time that I get to spend in my studio is just pretty terrific in my book.
What a lovely opportunity you have given us to win such a fantabulous prize...thanks again! Have a great week!

Hello Kittie, I really love your creations and this card is no exception! Just lovely! I started out with very few dies and really concentrated on stamps. I love to color! But then I got several dies for gifts and really feel in love with how much paper could be "manipulated". I have to confess when I found your blog I went from simple matting to much more intricate and involved die work...I have actually purchased several dies based upon your cards!!!! I also learned how to make flowers and poinsettias based off of your tutorials and really have to say a big thank you to you for that. I don't know that I have ever commented before but please keep your lovely creations and tutorials coming....they are so helpful to people like me who are totally dependant upon the internet for knowledge of product usage and new technique.

What a fabulous card! Absolutely amazing, and all done with dies. I have to say that don't think I could survive without my dies, but having said that I really am a combination girl, dies and stamps. Kitty, that window scene you created with Santa and his Reindeer flying over those snowy trees and topped with that gorgeous Poinsettia is about the prettiest thing I have ever seen. WOW!

Hi Kittie,
This is so beautiful! I can't get over how real the poinsettia is, gorgeous! When I create projects I usually use a combination of die cutting and stamping. I find that doing so expands my options.

Kittie, I wouldn't want to live without either my dies or stamps. I also use my Cameo along with digital stamps. So many toys and so little time. When I first purchased the Big Shot and my first dies, thought I had gone to heaven. I almost always have both on any card that I create.
Thanks for a chance to win. Your window is gorgeous with the poinsettia, love your designs so very much.

Hi Kitty,
I anxiously await your emails to see what you've come up with every day. Your work is exquisite and I love every card you present. I now have a nifty collection of dies as a result!
Your cats are darling! It was fun to see every picture. I'm more of a dog person but your cats look so loving. Thanks for the chance to win!

I started with stamps, but you've inspired me to try die cuts. I've learned a lot from you (thanks!). I'm moving into the direction of combining stamps and die cuts.

Although I'll always be a stamper at heart, I enjoy making cards and other projects with stamps and dies combined - after discovering your blog, Kittie, I fell in love with dies and have been on buying frenzy ever since! I can only hope to make projects as amazing as yours someday - you are SO talented! Thank you for the chance to win the dies - what a treat that would be!

Hi Kittie, i'm a stamper first, so most of my cards combine stamping and die-cutting. But there are so many gorgeous dies out there, I can see myself making cards with just dies. Especially with the words dies that are available now!
Thanks for sharing!
Posted by: Starqueen | November 04, 2013 at 01:17 AM
This card is beautiful. I didn't notice the difference in perspective between the window and the poinsettia, I only noticed the beauty of the card. I really like the flower soft in the center, it adds realism to me.
Lately I am mixing dies and stamping. Although I love 3d effects so I am buying more dies than stamps. Your cards have inspired me to buy impression obsession, and memory box, and I also like dynamics. Sizzix dies are top of my list, and I so want Susan's garden dies. When I first viewed the poinsetts pics on pinterest I had to find out about that die. Nothing is more satisfying than cutting paper or fabric with a die and creating a dimensional piece. Thank you for sharing your beautiful works of art and for the daily beautiful inspiration.

I would love to try the dies. And I love stamping! I have never tried any dies. I received a Cuttlebug as a present and experimented with it but would love to win a die set that makes flowers. Soooo much easier then cutting or punching each petal out.
Posted by: Elle | November 04, 2013 at 02:12 PM
I love your card - the design, the colours and the dimension. Stamps and dies together for me but I need to get more creative with my dies.

Kitty, I'm always impressed with all your creations but your flowers blow me away. This card is no exception. I put off buying a Cuttlebug for ages thinking I wouldn't use it much. Boy was I wrong. I love die cutting and embossing and stamping. Most of the time I combine at least 2 of them on all my projects. Thanks for the blog candy. I really enjoy your projects and posts. The cat stories and pix were priceless.

I've recently discovered your blog and I'm so glad I did. I love the way you layer up all your cuts and you add texture and color..". I could study your cards for hours.
I really prefer to use dies. In addition to my standard die cutting tools, I have spent hours on occasion creating my own design (many based on a stamp that I want a coordinating die cut for) so that I can cut it out using my electronic die cutter. By stamping on my die cuts I can add a whole new feel and look to my projects. So I guess I'm a "both" crafter.

I love to use both stamps and dies, but because of you I am really having a lot of fun playing with my dies. I used to just have SB labels types of dies, but I have discovered IO dies and through you, a whole new and much more fun way to use dies to create scenes. You truly are my inspiration ! Seriously !!

Hi Kittie, I am into everything that goes on a card. Stamps, ribbons, die cuts, you name it. I cannot compliment your work enough, I always talk about your creativity which is endless and so inspiring to me. I love making flowers and have been for years, keep up the fantastic work you do and thank you for this opportunity of a chance to a blog candy.

Your cards have made me a die addict! The impressions are so clean and crisp. The dies give my cards a very professional look- which is not the result when I try to color with Copics, markers or watercolor.
Sometime I would love some tips from you on how to dress up the inside of my cards.
Thank you for all your inspiration!
