Good Saturday morning. As you know I am in love with Susan Tierney Cockburn’s die sets and it was Susan who introduced me to the wonders of PanPastel. My project today was made using Susan’s Poinsettia set and her Conservatory Window set and I have an additional set of each to offer to you for a blog candy gift.
All you have to do be entered into the random drawing is leave a comment telling me whether you prefer creating your projects with stamps, dies or a combination of both. You will have until 5:00 pm on Friday, November 8th to comment and the winner will be announced next Saturday morning.
I cut the window die twice, one for the card front and one to finish the inside for my see thru window. I used the inside lines of the window die as a template and drew an outline to follow for cutting out the window. I attached the window to the card front with mounting tape and used ATG adhesive to attach to the inside opening. Check out my tutorial if you would like to see step by step photos of cutting out and finishing the window.
Next I cut out the flower and leaves and scored in the stem and vein lines using the leaf pad and leaf tool. I wanted my poinsettia to be a little smaller so I could pair it with the window so I only used the four smaller petals for the flower and the largest petal for the leaves. I had fully intended to use the stamen and Susan’s Garden yellow paper pen for the flower center but I totally messed it up and almost ruined my flower. Ugh! It was late and I was too tired so I pulled it off and just used flower soft for the center.
After scoring all the pieces I colored them with PanPastel, formed them with my tweezers and assembled the flower using crafter’s pick. I used white cardstock for both the petals and leaves because I like that it allows lighter and darker shades of color. You can see Susan’s tutorial for assembling the flower here. You can see a couple of my tutorials coloring both flowers and leaves with PanPastel here.
I cut the pine branch, applied PanPastel color and lightly formed them with the molding pad and stylus. I attached the pine and poinsettia to the window with glossy accents. I know the flower and window are not in perspective but I just love the open window with the floral design. There are no rules in art that can’t be broken…..right!

I love all your cards and log in every day to see your next creation, they are all wonderful. I have not tried stamping yet and use dies for all of my cards and just wish I had half the talent that you have. Would love to win these dies to add to my collection. Thank you for giving us an insight into what can be achieved.X

Hi Kittie,
I started out using punches and stamps to create my cards until I discovered your blog about a year and a half ago and fell in love with your beautiful work! Now I'm a die fanatic, most of which were purchased after seeing them showcased on your blog. I usually create my cards with dies and finish them off with a sentiment stamp. Thanks for being such an inspiration to so many!

I create cards with my stamps, with my dies, and a combination of both. So some cards only use stamps, some only use dies, and some use both. I just love creating with these mediums! I would love to win this blog candy!

Your card is just stunning, Kittie. And I happen to have fallen in love with poinsettias this year! I guess I mostly use both stamps and dies, although just starting out I don't have too many stamps; I have more dies. And if I don't have a die, I will fussy cut. Also, it's about time I thanked you for being such an inspiration to me - humungous THANKS! Many of the dies I bought were because of you, you sweet enabler, you!

OMG! So many wonderful comments! I love using stamps and dies. Stamps have a lot of detail. It is like a picture that you can bring to life by cutting it, shaping it and then adding it in. Die cuts are also fabulous because they also add dimension and detail with clean cut lines for a added bonus. You are very talented my friend. Truly a gift that some of us missed out on.

Beautiful card. Although I learn more toward cards with stamps, I do have quite a few dies and have been using them more and more. I especially enjoy using the dies to create flowers.

you are such an inspiration to me. even though I am fairly new to your blog, I so love the beautiful projects you make. I enjoy using dies on my projects, but don't use them anywhere near the capacity you do. I am definitely going to try to do more with them after seeing all that you do with yours. thank you! :)

I love dies! But at the same time I can't imagine not having my stamps as well. I think I like a combination of the both. I do sometimes make a card without stamps but I don't make one without at least one die,

I love dies!!!!
They are just so easy to play with and so special when the project is completed.
Love your work Kitty and admire the detail that you achieve.

I love dies the most but do use some stamps too. Thanks for sharing your ideas and for the chance to win this lovely die.

I definitely create with a combination of both anymore. I used to spend so much time fussy cutting, and now my wood-block stamps need dies toi!

The dies that are available now are so wonderful that my stamps are gathering dust. I'm just totally enamored with dies. Your fabulous creations have influenced me to buy many a die. Thank you for sharing your talent and for the chance to win the dies you used on your lovely card.

Used to stamp a lot, then I discovered digi stamps, then I discovered dies! So now I try to use as many of all 3 as I can (and not always successfully!!) Have only just discoverd your blog but have seen your wonderful cards on Pinterest (which is another addiction - spend that much time looking at everyone else's creations I run out of time to make my own!!

I've been using dies more than ever with all the gorgeous papers available. Sometimes the only stamping is the sentiment inside. I love to stop by on Fridays and check out what you've been up to since I last peeked!

I use both dies and stamps. I especially love the Memory Box dies. I discovered your blog a few months ago and love your cards. They are beautiful!
Posted by: sheila clabough | November 08, 2013 at 01:54 PM
I use both but starting to favour the dies. I live in England but my daughter has a holiday home in Florida. Whilst she was there in October I ordered a lot of Memory Box dies and these were sent to her. These dies are expensive here.
I love your daily message and usually "have a go". I have the poinsettia die and will start later today.
