Welcome to day 4 of the Impression Obsession Spring Release Designer Hop. We have some beautiful CHA peeks to share and gift certificates to give away each day!!! You will want to hop on over to the Impression Obsession blog to get all the details. I know you are going to love all the team projects you are going to see this week.
Today’s hop list!
Kittie CaraccioloYou are here
For my project today I used Gail Green’s Tulips image paired with the Border Duo 1 and Circle Shaker Frames
I prepared the watercolor paper by dampening with water and a mini mister. I applied ink to the stamp with worn lipstick and shabby shutters Distress Markers, lightly misted water on the stamp and stamped the image on the damp paper. Stamping with water based ink allows you to create a project that looks more like watercolor than when you stamp with a dark color pigment ink.
I placed a drop of reinker in the lids of the ink pads to use as palettes. Hint- reinker is very concentrated and the color is much deeper and vibrant than what you gather from the ink pad. I little bit goes a long, long way especially the distress reinkers. I used a waterbrush to lightly pull color from the ink lines of the image to fill in creating the base layer of color. I dipped my waterbrush directly into the reinkers to paint in additional color and add depth to the image. I lost some of the definition of the flower and leaf lines in my painting process but used the dark aged mahogany ink to softly add it back in. I heat dried the ink on the image and then lightly applied a soft yellow background around the image with squeezed lemonade reinker. I finished by doodling in a few lines with my black artist pen to add one more element of definition to the flower without actually adding back bold image lines. Did that make sense? Here’s a closer view.
I framed the image and attached it to the card base. I really love the colors and how this project turned out.
Thank you very much for all the wonderful and supportive comments on our blog post. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Love your colored image, but to me, what really makes it elegant is that embossed panel! You have such a gift for combining patterns and shapes to where they complement each other, instead of overshadowing!

The soft watercolor effect is a nice contrast with the formal background textures. Nice tip also to use only a strip of the impression design.
