Good Saturday afternoon. My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge and the inspiration site this week was The Cake Blog. I had so much fun browsing through all the gorgeous cakes on this site but was most inspired by a monochromatic cream colored cake in the Sea Loving Nautical Cakes post with the Adirondack chairs at the top and lots of shells around the layers.
I began by cutting the sand dune layers and all the individual pieces. I sponged Antique Linen ink on all the pieces to add definition. I applied glue to the shells and dune layers and sprinkled with crystal clear glitter.
I applied a few clouds in the sky area on the card base using my retired Stampin’ Up! cloud template and a mini applicator and ink blending tool. I cut the frame and applied double stick tape along the bottom and up the sides about an inch and attached the first dune layer to the back of the frame. I applied mounting tape strips all the way around the back of the frame, attached the second dune layer and then attached the frame to the card base.
The chairs were tucked in behind the dune and attached with mounting tape. The grass in the corners was attached with glossy accents and the shells were attached with rolled up glue dots. All the birds were attached with mounting tape. I think I may have put a few too many flying birds and thought I might pry a couple of them off but the tape held too well and would rip the paper. I had to be satisfied with them just the way they are. LOL!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend.
Card size: 5.50” x 4.25”
Your cards are amazing. What does your craft room look like, how do you keep your dies wrangled? You must have every die known to God or man. You're my crafting hero.

Kittie, this is GORGEOUS!!! I LOOOOVE IT! I noticed the glitter right away... looking all sandy, but thought you'd used glitter paper. TRULY STUNNING in monochromatic! No worry about the birds!;)LOOOOOVE IT!!!!!!!!! ;)

Cynthia, Thank you for such a wonderful compliment. Check out the link on the right side of my blog to Stamp-n-Storage. I love the Magnetic Cards and Wafer Die Storage boxes. The magnetic cards are the best I've seen and hold my dies tightly and securely in place. You won't be disappointed with this system if you have lots of dies. And as for the question about my craft room.....it is messy. LOL! Can't keep it neat 'cause it takes too much time away from playing.

Perfection Kittie!!! As for the birds....this is exactly how gulls swoop down when there is any food around - so, a perfect real life scene!!!

I love this. Your beach scenes are always fantastic. The antique linen is perfect....all about sand. And birds are perfect. I want to perfect those shadows....so realistic.
Have a beautiful day.
