Good Sunday morning. My project today is a sweet baby card made using the new Impression Obsession Cutie Pies Stamp Set and Cutie Pies Die Set by Pink Ink. These are such cute images and are perfect for making baby cards or kids birthday cards. I thought the bear and bunny would look sweet in a window scene. I used the Art Impressions Watercolor Tree Set for the small tree in the background scene and pulled out my retired Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Minis fern stamp to add the leaves and grassy area. The window valance was made using the Impression Obsession Border Duo 1 die and the window was made using the Poppystamps Grand Madison Window.
I secured my watercolor paper in my MISTI, attached the stamps in place, applied black versafine ink and stamped. I’m so glad I used my MISTI because I didn’t get a perfect impression the first time. I reapplied ink and stamped the second time leaving a perfect image. I heat set the versafine with my heat gun to make sure I wouldn’t have any smudging when I began to paint. I applied Memento marker inks on my acrylic block to use as a palette and picked up the color with my waterbrush and painted the images. I cut the images out with the coordinating dies and then trimmed off the edges.
I applied ATG adhesive to the back of the polka dot paper and attached it to the card base. I scored the white bottom portion of the card base every 1/4” and applied it to the base using ATG adhesive. I used the die cut window as a template and traced lines along the outer edges of the window opening to use a a guide for cutting out the opening. I cut the opening using my craft knife. You can see step by step pictures of this process on my blog in my See Thru Window tutorial. I attached thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the window and set it in place over the window. I cut the decorative window valance and attached with ATG adhesive.
I applied brown ink to the tree stamp, lightly dabbed off some of the ink on the upper branches with a rag and stamped. I applied a light touch of brown reinker to my waterbrush and filled in the tree trunk. I applied light green ink to the tiny fern stamp and stamped several times to create a light green base for the tree top. I filled in the tree top using darker green ink. I sponged darker green ink on the ground area and filled in with the fern stamp. I added a touch of blue fern image for flowers. I heat set the green ink and then sponged on the blue sky area. I attached the scene to the inside of the card using mounting tape. I finished by attaching the two Cutie Pies in place on the window sill with rolled up glue dots.
Thanks for coming by today and I hope you have a great upcoming week.
