Good Thursday morning. Today I am celebrating a “Ten Year Blog Anniversary” milestone. My Very First Blog Post ever was published ten years ago on November 9 2007. It is amazing to look back on my original post and to browse through the years to see all the twists and turns my paper crafting style has taken. This will be my 2206th post and I am honored to have had 7,406,868 page views to date. I thought it would be fun to celebrate my anniversary by giving a blog candy gift for each year as a thank you to you for following my blog. You can see more details about the blog candy below.
I love making snowy winter scenes for holiday cards. Today’s project was made using the Impression Obsession Fir Tree, Small Fir Tree, Evergreen Trees and Sun and Moon. The frame was using the My Favorite Things Pierced Square Frames. I secured the stamps and cardstock in my MISTI and stamped using Peeled Paint ink. I stamped three trees on the card base and then stamped several random trees. I placed my dies over the stamped random trees and die cut them. I wanted the die cut trees to have the same pattern as the background trees. In the end it didn’t matter much because I covered them so much with white embossing paste and glitter.
Once the background trees were stamped I heat set them and then applied Tumbled Glass ink to the sky area using an ink blending tool. I applied white embossing paste to the stamped and die cut trees by lightly tapping it on with my finger and then sprinkled with the clear glitter. I also applied the paste to the ground area on the tree background and sprinkled with glitter.
I attached the tree background to the back of the frame using thin strips of mounting tape. I attached the green layer behind the framed scene with ATG adhesive and then attached to the white card base using ATG adhesive. I secured the die cut trees in place using strips of mounting tape. I used a tiny tipped brush to apply white dots of white paint to the sky area to create falling snow and then finished by adding one star in the sky. This is really so much prettier in person than it shows in the photos. That seems to happen so often.
Here a the projects from my first post.
Stampin” Up! Lovely as a Tree. Lovely as a Tree is one of my favorite SU sets and I will never let it go.
Stampin’ Up! Punch Pals

Can you believe it's been ten years that we've been on this journey?? Wow! Time flies when you're following your passion, right? Congratulations, dear friend! Can't wait to see what you do in the next ten, and the next, and the next!!

Congrats on 10 years! Always enjoy your blog. It can be almost embarassing whenI look back at my early craft projects. Also interesting are the various fads I've gone thru.

I would like to say my style hasn't changed over the years, but it has. I like to think it's simple and classy. I've tried LateBlossom's style, but simple isn't always simple. I just use one layer, usually, and no bows. I'm totally bow challenged so I don't make them. I do use ribbon, but not bows. I love your cards, and I admire your ability to do all that fiddly work. Each of your cards is a small work of art. Thank you for sharing.

Congratulations on your tenth blogaversary, and thank you for all the inspiration you have shared with others. ... My papercrafting style has gone from single-layer to multi-layer items, from simply stamped, to dry- and/or heat-embossed, from safe monochromatic to multi-colored. I love seeing what you're "up to" each day and hope you continue blogging for many years to come.

I wouldn't say my style gas changed. I have just gotten better at what I make. My card just look polished! Probably could say my cards are definitely better than a fifth grader! Lol

I love each and every creations of yours! You are true inspirations all over the crafting world!

Love your detailed work always!

Congratulations on your tenth bloganniversary, and thank you for all the inspiration you show us. My style is really changed. In the beginning I use only 3D pictures and some designpapers. But now I love to use the Silhouette Cameo and die cuts, I am using them all the time.

I've always used texture but find I now use dies frequently. Your blog has always been an inspiration to me. Your color choices are so pleasing.

Congrats on 10 years!!! I first saw Your work at SCS. Your projects always have had a fab flair to them. Your sharing and step by step pics, and your tutorial on SCS have been very inspirational to me! When I started stamping, my cards were not the greatest. I learned through tutorials- not too many available back in the day so I joined Technique Junkies. I also like to ‘dabble’ with Stamps by many companies. Oh, you have enabled me a few times : )

Wow Kittie, Congrats on 10 fabulous years! I have learned so much from you over these years. Your style has so many fun details and is so elegant. Each is a true work of art. Thank your for sharing so many tricks and tips on how to make wonderful cards and projects.
My style has changed a bit over the years, first it was just stamps and cardstock, then I added pattern paper, then die cuts, glitter, paper piecing, embellishments, embossing folders, etc. I love making cards that match the receivers interests. I learning from you has helped me do that.

Congrats on 10years! Looking forward to your next ten! My card making style has changed a lot especially with Die cutting, love the look of layered images and having great artists like you to learn from helps tremendously. Thank you for all you do!

Congrats on 10 years it is also my 49th wedding anniversary today. My style has change as I like to do most designs on white cardstock, using lots of die cuts and stamps, my cards seem to be getting smaller also. Thank you for your inspiration.

Congrats on your 10th year anniversary! I made a scrapbook long time ago when I was a teenager. Wow how things have changed from those days of paper scrapbooks and photo corners. Thank goodness for technology! I love all the die cutting and stamping supplies available now and I have become an avid scrapbooker and card maker.

Wow! A big congratulations on your 10 year anniversary for your blog! Your card today is just so beautiful! I love the Fir trees and it all looks so peaceful and beautiful! Well my card making style has certainly changed since my very first cards. I started out with the brass templates, a stylus, and a light box. I was one that never understood why I would want to stamp! Boy was I clueless! LOL! I have so enjoyed seeing each one of your cards! Each one is certainly a masterpiece and I am very glad that I found your blog several years ago!

Wow, 10 years? I've been following your blog since the day I started card-making a few years ago Kittie and you're often my go-to source for inspiration. My cards have gone from a basic beginning to the present-day more intricate style and you have been a massive influence on me & my confidence.
I am so grateful I found you. Here's to another 10 years and I can't wait to see what you do and how you inspire me even further, thank you so much! <3

Oh, Kittie! Ten years! I can hardly believe it. You're the one who started me on collecting Impression Obsession dies! You enabler, you! I have always loved your style and have enjoyed your blog tremendously. Of course, I have those fir trees so I will be trying my hand at your layout. As always, you are an inspiration!

What a neat idea to reminisce. My blog also started in November but in 2008 so next year will be 10 years for me. I will definitely have to remember this idea to celebrate. I love the Lovely as a Tree set to and will never let it go. So many of the things you wrote in your post reminded me of me. So I went back to my very first post and checked it out. I've learned a lot about color and design since that time. And I think I've been leaning toward the cutsie side of things lately. I use dies so much more and shading too. Congrats on ten years of blogging. Your creations are amazing and I always find inspiration at your blog!

Wow, Kitty! 10 years is an amazing accomplishment - congratulations! Today's card is just gorgeous and I love how you added the snow effect to the trees - something I'm filing away to use ASAP! :) I started stamping in 2007 myself and while I don't have a ton of photos from back then, I do know that I have been pretty consistent with my CAS look but I tend to shy away from ribbon, thick embellishments that I used to add all the time. I have also finally fallen in love with Distress inks as I had them in the beginning but they just never worked for me. Now that I understand how they work, I've fallen hopelessly in love. YouTube has really changed my perspective on stamping and different techniques since videos were not a thing 10 years ago. LOL
Posted by: Christy Q | November 09, 2017 at 10:33 AM
CONGRATULATIONS, Kittie!!! ;) Your card is GORGEOUS, as ALWAYS! I think it looks like a LOVELY Tree Farm, maybe Christmas Eve--just waiting for us to come & pick out our tree! ;) My crafting style has changed over the years, from only stamping to using DIES! YOU were a big influence on me in that direction--seeing all of the scenes you've created with them! That is when I started buying those dies from I.O. to build my stash! ;) I'm STILL finding dies I need in that area. LOL AND I've moved to other inks as well, but very slowly there. I am still working on expanding my mediums. ;)HOPE your Anniversary is FILLED with SPECIAL THINGS!!! ;)

Congratulations on 10 wonderful years! I so enjoy your blog and hope to someday be as creative as you. I still consider myself a newbie with stamping, yet I do enjoy making my own cards. I like to explore with different types of cards; however, they do not look like the ones I try to CASE. ha. If I am lucky enough to win a blog candy from you, I would be happy with one of your amazing cards. Thanks so much for your inspiration and for keeping us motivated with your creativity.

Congratulations and thanks for all the inspiration you have been to me! I have gone from the very simple - using pre-made stickers and store bought embellishments - to making nearly all of my embellishments. I now use the Cricut, Cameo. embossing machines, and die cuts in my paper crafts. I started out making just scrapbook pages, then advanced to making simple cards. I now do a lot of layers and also make a lot of 3d projects, as well as using vinyl in a lot of my projects.

Congrats on 10 years! I love your cards! they are so pretty! My style has changed from simply stamping on 1 layer to multi layers, die cuts, bling ect lol

I have only found you recently and look forward to your emails with those beautiful cards.
Your cards are so distinctive, they have a timeless quality at least to me.
Thank you for your many wonderful ideas and instructions and Congratulations on your 10 years.
I started with basic stamping hardly able to do that. Now there isn't much I haven't tried. I love it all. But mostly I enjoy the 3D cards and altering about anything I get my hands on.

Congratulations. I have enjoyed your blog for many years and always look forward to seeing your beautiful creations. I have gone from only using stamps to now mainly using dies. I love interactive cards and different card styles. You are a wonderful inspiration! Keep going for another 10 years!

Congratulations on your 10th Anniversary Blog. Although I've been following you much longer through Splitcoast Stampers. You've been my inspiration for a long time. I love your tutorials and tips...keep 'em coming.
I remember when I started card making many, many years ago through dry embossing with brass plates. I loved the look of embossing and how it made cards look so classy and expensive. After that I purchased my first stamp at a craft fair and was warned that it would be the first of many. She was right. I eventually became a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Lovely As A Tree is still one of my favorites, too. Along with stamping, punches became something I fell in love with. Then dies came on the scene...and I've never looked back since! Right now, I love making cards with dimension, that open different, flip, odd shaped cards, etc...all using dies.

Your card proves that a lovely card is always lovely. My style has changed from using all stamps to very few stamps. Now I use mainly dies and interesting folds. Thanks for all of your great ideas

Thanks for all your inspiring works of art! I first learned of your website in Parade magazine a few years ago and have been a fan ever since. The first thing I do in the morning is get a cup of coffee and head to your website to see what wonderful creation you have presented. I guess my "style" hasn't particularly changed over the years. Although, I tend to use die cuts more than I used to. I still like to make three-dimensional flowers, and I like to create interactive cards. Again, thanks for sharing your outstanding work!!

I have loved your posts ever since I discovered them several years ago. Your attention to detail is amazing. Congratulations on 10 years of creativity ! I started making cards about 10 years ago and have kept copies of what I have made. It is amazing all the styles and techniques I have tried. I still love trying new and different ideas and techniques.

I started stamping when I was invited to a "Dots" stamps party. My friends who were there with me no longer stamp. Then it was Stampin Up. Now, there are so many companies that I love and I use them all. My cards were very simple then. But now I use a lot of product on my cards. I love going to the stamp shows and scrapbooking shows to see what's new (and of course shop). I love making cards and watching desigers like yourself.

Congratulations!! Your creativity is always amazing and a visit to your blog inspires me as does your gallery on SCS. Thank you for all the ideas you share. My style has pretty much remained the same with just some 'fine tuning' and maybe more attention to details.
Keep creating

Kittie,
Over the years my card making has evolved to where I'm using more color inks. I'm particular about which type of card stock I use for my cards. I like a heavy weight. I tend to lean toward clean, simple but elegant and classy cards. Thanks for the 10 years of inspiration.

Congratulations! I love coming to your blog and seeing your scene cards they always inspire me. I started stamping in 1995 and my style has really changed. There weren't many stamp companies and I colored my stamps using markers back then. Using distress ink pads on my backgrounds and using die cuts that match my stamps. Thank you for the opportunity to win your 10 years blog candy.

How exciting to celebrate 10 years. I have been a follower for several years and always love your cards. My early years at card making was all about stamping. I used a few dies to accent the stamping, but now I work mostly with dies and just use the stamps for sentiments.

Congratulations on 10 years of blogging Kitty and many more years to come! Your cards are absolutely gorgeous and I always enjoy seeing what beauty you will create next and just love your beautiful scenes! Lovely as a tree is the perfect name for that stamp by the way!!
I think my cards have gotten more complex. I enjoy creating scenes and interactive cards. With grandchildren from age 2 to 22 plus a Father who is 94 my cards span a wide range of styles.
Thank you for your wonderful tutorials and inspiration!

Congratulations! I love reading your blog and being inspired. I have discovered watercolors and use Twinkling H2Os often. Ten years ago, I’d never heard of them. When I started I stamped on paper, colored it and maybe did 2 layers. Now I also use more 3D additions and layers.

Congratulations Kittie on this big milestone!! Wow....10years!!! How time flies!! I started stamping around that time. I’ve pretty much stuck to the same style but I’ve been improving and trying various techniques. I started out as just a card maker but have been making and enjoying 3D projects the last few years. Thank you for all the inspiration over the years. I look forward to many more years of your wonderful blog posts. {{{inky hugs}}}

Ten years! So many of the people I started following ten years ago have either stopped blogging, or their blogs are so full of ads and links that they've become too difficult to navigate. Thank you for keeping yours clean and classy!
I think my style has become cleaner than it was ten years ago. The huge increase in the number and availability of dies means I am less likely to have layers of patterned paper on each card (as evidenced by my languishing paper stash) and more likely to use plain card stock instead.
I do still love me some Echo Park though! 😄
Posted by: Lesley Mark | November 09, 2017 at 01:10 PM
Congratulations on your 10 year benchmark! You have certainly inspired hundreds of thousands of us over the years. I hope you will have many more years of stamping blogging ahead of you.
I have been stamping for over 25 years and my style has changed so much. So much more cool stuff is available now to enhance our papercrafting. I think my technique has improved most in how I color the stamped images, and also in my complexity of assembling the finished card.
Many thanks for your inspiration over the years through your wonderful blog.

Congratulations on this HUGE milestone! What an amazing number of visitors! I love your tree scene! I don’t know why but I absolutely love tree scenes! To me, they are relaxing and refreshing.
When I was a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator I had the Lovely As A Tree set and used it daily! It came up missing at one of my classes and then I got sick and never got around to replacing it! To this day, I still miss it every time I am stamping! Silly to be so attached to a stamp set but true! 🙂🙃🙂
When I started out stamping I thought my cards were all that and a box of crackers but looking back I cringe at some of the cards I sent or sold. I am definitely a more refined stamper and love all the new techniques that have come out over the years!
Thanks for the chance to win these amazing prizes! 🤞✨🤞✨🤞✨💖✨🤞✨🤞✨🤞

Hi Kittie,
Congratulations on your 10th anniversary! My style has changed so much since I started making cards, from very simple to intricate, from not wanting small stamps to coveting them, from being afraid to buy dies to using them ALL the time,
and from first starting to simple coloring with copics to now a little bit better but experimenting with other pencils and watercolor.
One of the first blogs that I followed was yours and you have been INSTRUMENTAL AND INSPIRATIONAL for me, from literally copying your cards to draw inspiration from your blog and making my own!
Thanks A LOT for this 10 years of FUN,INSPIRATION and COMPLETE AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on you 10 years and thank you for the opportunity to win. I would say that I am changing my style all the time but the biggest change was to finally use real stamps instead of digital... It does make a big difference in what much more I can do.

Wow-Congrats on 10 years of blogging! I always enjoy seeing your posts when I have time to check them out. Your cards are always so lovely and detailed.
My style as a card maker has changed in that I try more techniques and love to enter challenges. My go to style is clean and layered.

COngratulations on your ten year anniversary! That is truly fantastic. I can’t say I’ve been following you for those entire ten years but I have enjoyed the tiny bit of the journey I have been able to follow. Your creativity is inspiring. And has given me so many ideas for improving my creations. I would say I’ve changed my style in many ways, most noticeable the way I use die cuts on my cards to create scenes instead of just a single element.
Thank you again for sharing your talents!

Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary. You have absolutely been an inspiration to me in my crafting. Over the past ten years I have gone from just stamping cards to beautiful dimensional cards. I love making my flowers look real.

What an amazing journey you've been on ! Thank you for sharing your craft with us for the past 10 years. I have enjoyed your posts daily and am so encouraged by your work. My card making skills have improved so much over the years due in large part to follow in blogs like yours. I now enjoy using water colors and distress inks and have added Nuvo drops and embossing paste to my work. Keep up the great work - we really appreciate it!

Wow, Kittie... 10 years!!! Congratulations!!! I think I've been thinking about starting a blog about that long! LOL!! I can't remember exactly when I found your blog, but I've probably been following it pretty close to the full 10 years and I have enjoyed EVERY SINGLE card!!!!!! Thank you so much for all the inspiration!!! As for my card style changing over the years, I've always had a pretty varied style - making all kinds of cards. I guess the biggest change over the years is that I have come to really like CAS (Clean & Simple) cards more than I would have ever thought I would. The other change is that I have come to love dies so much that I prefer using dies on cards much more than I enjoy stamping. I love it when I can complete a card that I love without stamping at all.

My style has definitely changed! From simple stamping on sheets of newsprint trying to "match" saying with stamps to more artistic layering with different techniques and fabulous colors! I just love all your "scenery" in frames!

Congratulations on your 10 years. My style has changed over the year too. Simple stamping, making a simple card to more details, more color, more layers. Your site has inspired me. thank you.

I totally love the tree card and may try and recreate that one. Thanks for the ideas!!!

I have learned to use "pop-ups" to create dimension to my cards (thank you very much) and have improved my blending of inks for lovely backgrounds and flowers.
My cards have greatly improved from "beginner" to "intermediate" because of all the wonderful people who post videos and instructions.

I haven't been following you for very long, but I love each email I get from you with another Kittie creation. I have been card making for almost 10 years and had cards I made all the way back to the very first. Unfortunately I lost them to Harvey along with a lot of my supplies. It's funny how much you learn about life by losing it all. Thank you for sharing your gift of making beautiful cards. I really enjoy them.

Congratulations on your 10 years! I'm so impressed with the time and detail in your cards. I find so much inspiration on your blog. When I first started card making, it was simple.. now I love heat embossing and am using embossing paste for dimension. Also am a die lover. Thanks for sharing so much with us!

Congrats to you. Ten years is along time but goes by pretty fast when you enjoy what you do. I would like to think my cards today are more professhional since I have a regular customer or two. I don't think we ever stop learning something new.

Congratulations Kittie on ten years! WOW! I don’t know if my style has changed. I know I’ve learned a lot more techniques and my cards have become more polished. I still like a lot of my older stamp sets but having been exposed to other’s projects the images I now choose have become more eclectic. Thanks for the chance to win a prize.

Oh my! 10 years! I started scrapbooking at 15 and not only have us crafters changed and matured but so have our supplies! Gone are my days of stickers and now I’m a die hard die cutter!

When I started making cards 20 years ago, the only things I used were stamps and various inks. Then discovered embossing powders and drove everyone nuts showing them the miracle of melting powder! The biggest change has been the change to dies. Oh Lord, do I love dies! Too much fun and so many possibilities! It's been quite a ride! Congrats on your achievement. I've loved your emails for years now! Keep up the good work!

Wow congrats to you on 10 years and hope to see another 10 years of your inspirations. Your cards are fabulous cards. I started out with now I call basis and clean and simple and now I add so much more to them. A lot has changed in my card making in the years. Thanks for a chance to win one of your blog candies.

I'm an avid scrapbooker and fairly new to card making although I have followed your blog for about 5 years just because I love your style and cards. My scrapbook style has really changed. I did almost everything on a white background to begin with and now I rarely do. Lots more color! Thanks for the chance to win blog candy.

Congrats on 10 Years and all the many more to come.
My Style has so changed over the years from Owning nothing but going out and buying some paper and a couple packs of stickers and hand making all my Christmas cards in a about 2 hours to making cards with dies, hand colouring and lots more knowledge I had no idea how consuming and fun this hobby could be I still like Clean and Simple but love to add in extra bits here and there to make it all my own and love to fuss over the smaller details now. I finally own a die cutter so I don't have to harass my sister into kindly mailing me some punched out shapes or die cuts that was the only way to have different shapes other then a square or rectangle So many Years ago.
thanks for the chance to win It's so sweet of you to share with so many
hugs Nikki

Congratulations, Kittie! 10 years - Wow! Now that's a reason to celebrate! I really enjoyed seeing your older cards and your very first blog post - what a lovely walk down memory lane for me as well. I remember making a frosted window card myself - actually I made many of them as Christmas cards way back then! I enjoyed seeing how your style has evolved over time. Your cards were every bit as beautiful back then as they are now! As for my style, I still prefer "cute" so that hasn't changed, but I use a lot more dies now. I'm hooked on dies! Wishing you continued success here on your blog and in life! You are an inspiration to so many of us! I am very excited about your giveaway - November 14 will be a big day and you will make so many people happy - Woohoo! Thank you, Kittie!

My style has change a lot since I started 5 years ago. I started off with using stamps. Now I am into using digital images and using Copic markers to color.

Kittie, congratulations on your 10 fantastic years. I always love your unique creative projects. Your tree card is beautiful. I think the change in my style is, hopefully, that I have improved my skills. Thanks for your generous giveaway and hope you enjoy many more years of creating.

Congratulations on your 10th Blogaversary, Kittie. Your cards today have a style which is very distinguishable. We've all come a long way mind you. My early creations before blogging were all done on a word processor. Nowadays I like colouring images and adding die cut embellishments and, thanks to a recent personal tutorial, I hope to really improve my flower shaping!!! Hugs Lesley

What a beautiful card...I love that winter scene! It's pretty funny to look back at my earlier cards; I'd like to think I've progressed quite a bit. You are such an inspiration, Kittie, and I really appreciate the instruction you give us in detail on the making of each card.

You are such an inspiration. I also love the Lovely as a Tree set. I started doing scrapbooking with friends. I worked at Current Inc. which had their own scrapbooking catalog and supplies. From there I have branched to making custom cards for family and friends and also sell them occasionally.

Congratulations on your 10th Anniversary of blogging Kittie. You have provided so much inspiration for so many crafters. I remember how honored I was when you commented on a card I posted on Splitcoast casing one of your cards. My papercrafting style has changed from single layer cards with colored pencil images to cards with several layers and embellishements, die cuts and colored with Copics. My coloring techniques have improved both with Copics and with colored pencils. And my collection of dies has seriously grown. Thanks for all you do, and here’s to many more years of your inspiring blog posts.
