Good Sunday morning. When I make my holiday cards I have a few favorite themes that I repeat every year. I simply adore making scenes with deer. Sometimes the scenes are full of color with green foliage backgrounds and deer peeking out from behind tree branches. Sometimes all white images against an all white background with only touches of red and green. Today I created colorful deer with red birds against an all white background. I recreate these kind of deer scenes year after year because they make me so happy. I love making them so much. Today’s project was made using the Impression Obsession Square Tree Window, Deer Trio, Cardinals, Fir Sprigs and Wreath Builder.
I started by attaching the tree frame to the card using mounting tape. I hand cut a ground snow piece and attached it to the frame with mounting tape. The deer were cut using white cardstock and colored using Antique Linen and Vintage Photo ink and mini applicators. I attached a tiny holly leaves and tiny red berries on the neck of the fawn and applied tiny white spots with a white gel pen. The cardinals were cut with red and lightly touched with a black Copic marker on the beaks.
The deer and cardinals were attached to the scene with mounting tape. The fir sprigs were tucked in behind the ground snow and attached with glossy accents. I finished by adding a tiny touch of red stickles to the berries on the fawn’s neck but it doesn’t show well in the photos.
I did a file search for all the holiday deer cards I have made in the past and I posted several of my favorites. I had lots of fun looking back. I hope you don’t mind me sharing.
Thanks for coming by and I hope you have a great Sunday. Today’s card size is: 5” square.
