Good Wednesday morning. I have another Art Impressions to share with you today and it has lots and lots of purple. I had to laugh as I was working on this project because I heard Julie say on her Hello Monday Live that purple was her least favorite color. It’s one of my favorites but I think I may have gotten a little carried away with it on my floral scene,
I placed my watercolor paper in my Mini MISTI and set the stamp in place. Then I applied Hickory Smoke and Chipped Sapphire to the watering can using Distress markers and stamped the image. I used a small brush to pull the ink out of the lines to shade the watering can. I cut a mask and cover the can so I could protect it while I stamped the foliage and flowers.
I used a Chipped Sapphire, Wilted Violet and Mowed Lawn Distress markers to apply ink to the flowers and foliage. I tried to follow along with the picture on the front of the Watering Can package but I just carried away. I kept adding and adding until I knew I had added too much. So to try and solve the problem…..I added some more. LOL! Do any of you have this problem with your projects? I lightly touched all the flowers and foliage with a damp brush to soften the images. I removed the mask and stamped some foliage to appear flowing down over the can and stamped the grass image around the ground area. I just wasn’t satisfied with all that green grass so I added some soft purple flowers all around and sent my project even further over the top. What can I say! I’m a more is more kind of girl!

Good Wednesday morning. I have a clean and simple project to share with you today using the newly released Impression Obsession Songbird Branch and framed with the Rectangle 6-in-1 Frames. I couldn’t wait to get the Songbird Branch in my hands to try coloring with Memento Markers and a waterbrush. I love these markers and can’t wait to add more to my collection.
I cut the image out using Arches Hot Pressed Watercolor Paper. I lightly misted the paper to prepare to receive color. I applied ink from the markers on an acrylic block, picked up the color with my waterbrush and watercolored the images. When I was finished I heat dried and then applied clear Wink of Stella to add some sparkle.
I wanted to frame the birds and branch on an all white background and wanted to add dimension with the simple frame. I mounted the frame and mat using thin strips of mounting tape and attached to the card base. I applied three thin layers of mounting tape to the back of each bird and attached to the card base. I left both sides of the branches free. Although the birds are songbirds I think they look like their having a conversation. I love how clean and simple the whole card is and that the birds and branch can be the main focus.

Good Wednesday morning. I have a project to share with you today here on my blog as well as a step by step tutorial in the CLASSroom using the Impression Obsession Ornate Square Frame and the Bouquet set. The Ellen Hutson design team is featuring Impression Obsession products all this week as well as having a 15% off sale on all in-stock Impression Obsession products.
I had fun coloring the Impression Obsession Butterfly Block using Memento Markers and a waterbrush. I applied clear Wink of Stella over all the images to add some shine but it doesn’t really show well in the pictures.
I cut the Butterfly Block out of hot press watercolor paper, misted well with water using my mini mister and began coloring with markers and a waterbrush. I wanted the colors to be bright so they would pop against the all white frame and card base. I heat set and then applied the clear Wink of Stella over all the images. I applied double stick tape to the back of the frame and attached the block die cut to the back and trimmed off the top and bottom portion to fit in my square frame.
I applied mounting tape around the back of the frame and in a few key pieces of the die cut so everything would stand away from the card base. I hate to admit how crooked I got the frame attached to the card base. I didn’t notice it until I dropped down here to add my last couple lines of description. LOL!
