Happy Mother’s Day

Good Sunday morning and Happy Mother’s Day!  I especially remember my mother today with love and appreciation.  She has been gone for many years but never gone from my heart.

My project today was made using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Garden Notes Jasmine, My Favorite Things Stitched Scallop Basic Edges and the sentiment from Essentials by Ellen Amazing Women.

I started by adding color to the flower centers and the tips of the stamen using scattered straw ink and a mini applicator.  I wasn’t happy with the darker shade of yellow so I lightly added a touch of squeezed lemonade ink to brighten. I formed the stamen by rolling it around the tip of my tweezers and applied glossy accents to the outer edge to secure closed and removed it from the tip. I applied Crafter’s Pick glue to the bottom of each stamen, secured them in place in the flower centers and set them aside to dry. I applied crushed olive ink to the leaves and stems to add more depth of color.  I heat set the ink with my heat gun and then added vein lines using the leaf tool and pad.

I cut the scalloped border on the card base and then inserted it in my MISTI, set my sentiment stamp in place, applied black versafine ink and stamped.  As it turned out I didn’t get full coverage of my sentiment so I inked up the stamp again and stamped it again.  I can’t tell you how much paper I have lost in the past by not getting a good stamped image the first time.  I love my MISTI.  I applied crushed olive ink to the border of the green layer so it would match the green of the leaves.  I applied ATG adhesive to the back of the sentiment base and attached the green border.  I applied mounting tape to the back and attached it to the card base.

The leaf sections were cut apart, arranged and attached in place using glossy accents.  The flowers were attached to the leaves using glossy accents.  I wanted the simple white background to allow all the focus to be on the floral arrangement and sentiment.  I love how elegant the flowers and leaves are.

Spring Bouquet, Blog Candy and Ellen Hutson Sale

Good Saturday morning, My project today was made for the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge and a Pinterest Floral Arrangement Page was our inspiration site this week.  I was inspired by so many of the floral arrangements that I sort of went into inspiration overload.  I’ve mentioned in my blog posts many times that I grew up in my mother’s flower shop.  Browsing down through all of the gorgeous floral arrangements on this site made me homesick for my parents.  My mother would have loved my simple floral design made with the tulips, lilac and lily of the valley.   I started with three different flower sets, Impression Obsession Lily of the Valley, Penny Black First Blooms and Elizabeth Craft Designs Lilac.  I cut foliage using Impression Obsession Foliage, My Favorite Things Leafy Greenery and Penny Black Graceful Greenery. The frame was made using My Favorite Things Pierced Rectangle Frames and Stitched Rectangle Scallop Frames.

I cut the tulips using hot pressed watercolor paper and colored them using Memento markers and a waterbrush. I used an acrylic block to create a palette, applied ink to the block and picked up the color with my brush and painted the flowers and stems.  The lilac flowers was cut using purple cardstock, formed with a stylus and molding and then attached to the foliage using glossy accents.  The lily of the valley was cut using white cardstock.  The stems were colored using a green marker and I lightly colored the flower with a little washed yellow ink so the flowers would stand out a little against the all white background.  All of the foliage was cut using green cardstock.

The frame was attached together using mounting tape and then attached to the card base with another layer of mounting tape.  I started creating the bouquet by attaching the larger foliage together using glossy accents.  When I had a substantial foliage base I started tucking the flower stems in between the foliage and attaching them in place with glossy accents.  Once all the stems were in place I attached a large piece of mounting tape to the back of the bouquet and attached it to the card base.  I attached a few small pieces of foliage to the bottom of the bouquet to cover up the raw foliage stems and attached them in place with glossy accents.  I tied a white multi loop bow and attached it to the base of the bouquet with glue dots. I added a touch of sparkle to all the flowers using a  clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen.

Lovebirds

Good Monday morning.  I have a clean and simple project to share with you today using the Elizabeth Craft Designs Lovebirds and Reverse Confetti Lacy Scallop Frame. I love the delicate limbs and leaves and the placement of the lovebirds. I didn’t want anything to detract from the sweet images so I paired them with an all white background.  The decorative frame adds dimension and grounds the images adding to the overall prettiness.

I cut the image using white cardstock and colored the leaves and branches with Memento markers and the birds with Copic.  The only reason I switched is because I didn’t have a light enough blue marker.  I actually covered the bird and leaves with clear Wink of Stella but it doesn’t really show well in the photos.  I cut a couple extra leaf sections to add at the bottom of the branch to soften and cover the bare branch.  I lightly formed all the leaves with my stylus and molding pad.

I attached the frames together with thin strips of mounting tape and then applied a second layer of tape and attached to the card base.  I applied double layered pieces of mounting tape to the back of both birds and several of the leaves so they would stand well away from the base.

Ornate Wrought Iron Frame

Good Sunday morning.  My project today was made using the Impression Obsession Ornate Oval Frame and Wrought Iron Fence paired together to create this awesome frame.  The floral arrangement was made using the Foliage set, Tiny Flowers and Elizabeth Craft Designs Bunch of Flowers 1.

I thought combining the two dies would make a really pretty frame for my floral arrangement.  The frame die cuts into 4 sections, three frame layers and an oval.  I attached the three frame sections together using double stick tape to create a more substantial frame to attach the fence sections to.   The fence comes in two sections and I attached then together in the center with double stick tape.  This got a little tricky as the border around the fence is very thin.  I cut 1/8” double stick tape sections in half lengthways to create a thin enough adhesive to hold the sections together without showing from the front.  I removed the backing off the tape on the frame and attached the frame to the fence. Once it was secure I used my snips to cut off the excess portions of the fence.  I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it to the card base.  I really love how the frame and fence sections look together to create a totally different piece.

I had one more piece of this beautiful paper from the Graphic 45 Sweet Sentiments Collection and I thought it would be so pretty as the background for my frame and flowers.  I had a bit of a hard time trying to decide what color flowers I should use.  The dominant colors of the paper are peach and lavender so that’s what I used.  They are a fairly strange color combination but I went with it anyway.  If I had it to do again I would have created the frame using cream colored cardstock.  I formed the flowers using my stylus and molding pad and attached the sections together using glossy accents. I cut two sections of foliage and attached it to the frame using glossy accents to create the base for the flowers.  I arranged the large flowers and attached with glossy accents. I finished by adding several of the tiny flowers around the edges of foliage to soften the arrangement.  The floral arrangement covered up more of the frame than I had intended but It still shows enough to be pretty.

Lawn Fawn Leafy Tree and a Flower Garden

Good Sunday morning.  I have a fun spring scene card to share with you today made using the Lawn Fawn Leafy Tree Backdrop Portrait setting paired with the My Favorite Things Leafy Greenery, Elizabeth Craft Lilac and Pretty Pink Posh Stitched Borders 4.  I love the whimsical tree and flowers with the green gingham paper from the My Favorite Things Tiny Check Paper Pack.

I cut the tree frame once using Kraft cardstock and again using Bazzill Lollipop. I applied Vintage Photo ink to the tree using a mini applicator and and then lightly drug the ink pad directly over the tree to add some texture. I cut the tree section off of the pink frame and trimmed the Kraft frame on all four sides to neatly fit behind the pink frame.  I applied double stick tape to the back of the pink frame and attached the tree frame to the back of it. I cut two sets of leaves and two or three sets of tiny flowers and leaf sections from the Lilac set.  I formed the leaves and the flowers using my stylus and molding pad and then attached them to the tree limbs using glossy accents. I cut two sections of ground using the stitched borders instead of the grass section that came with the tree set because I wanted them to fit across the whole scene.  The section in the back was cut on an up hill angle to add interest and attached directly on the gingham card base using ATG adhesive.  I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and tree and attached it to the card base.  The front grass border was attached to the front of the frame with ATG adhesive.

I cut several leaf stems from the Lilac set, formed them lightly with my stylus and molding pad and then attached the tiny flowers using glossy accents. I tucked the leaf stems and flowers in behind the grass sections attaching them with glossy accents. I cut a whole set of all the foliage in the Leafy Greenery set and tucked them in and around the flower stems. I added a few tiny butterflies from the Memory Box Butterfly Delights set to finish.  .
