Courage Hop for Hope

Good Sunday morning.  Last spring Ellen Hutson released the Courage Stamp and Die Set to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  As a surprise for Ellen and Julie the design team and several friends are kicking off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with our Hop For Hope.  This is a beautiful stamp and coordinating die set to have in your collection and $25 from the sale of each set will be donated to the BCRF.  I know you will enjoy seeing all the wonderful projects created with this set and you will find the complete blog hop roster at the end of my post.  You can find more information about our hop at The CLASSroom.   You should have arrived here from Kelly's blog.

I secured the cardstock in my MISTI and used the multiple layering stamps to create my flowers. I used my snips to hand cut the flowers instead of using the coordinating dies.  I gently bent and formed them with my fingers to add a little bit of dimension.

I placed the white card base in my MISTI and stamped the foliage images to create a base for my flowers and stamped the sentiment below the foliage arrangement.  I attached the foliage card base to the green layer using thin strips of mounting tape and then attached to the white card base with thin strips of mounting tape.  I love the interest the popped up layers add to the clean and simple card.

The flowers were attached over top of the foliage with glossy accents.  I added the tiny touches of black and green using some of the smaller images in the set for the finish.

Clean and Simple Poppy Fields

Good Saturday morning.  I still had the Altenew Poppy Fields set on my desk from playing with it for the release blog hop last week and decided to try my hand at coloring the Poppies.  I was very inspired by Kara Vrabel’s brightly colored red Poppies done with Copic markers and wanted to take a stab with them as well.  I only have two red Copic markers and both were a lot darker than what Kara used.  On top of that I am totally Copic coloring challenged so I just did my best.  I think the flowers are way too dark but I do like how they pop against the all white framed background.  I wish I could improve my Copic coloring skills but I never seem to take enough time to practice.

I secured the cardstock and stamps in my MISTI used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the flowers.  I stamped each flower to get a really good dark image and then set the ink with my heat gun.  I colored the flowers with the lighter red marker and colored outside the lines of the images so there would not be any white outline when I die cut them.  I secured the dies in place with small pieces of Eclipse tape and ran them through my Big Shot.

I stamped the sentiment on the card base and framed it using the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Rectangle Stackables and a Nestabilities Matting Basics.  I attached thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it to the card base.  And don’t look too close at how crooked that frame is attached.  I love using frames but getting them lined up straight is definitely my Achilles heel.  LOL!  II gently bent and formed the flowers using my fingers and attached them to the card base using glossy accents.

My project with this set is a little different from the norm.  Instead of coloring my flowers I stamped them with versa and embossed with gold embossing powder.  I wanted to create a clean and simple gold and white card and add some dimension by using more than one flower.  I love using gold embossing on white cardstock but then I always want to kick myself when I start taking my photos.  It is almost always hard for me to get good pictures that show off how pretty the embossing is.

First I want to say how much I appreciate how close the die is to the outline of the stamped image.  It was very easy to line it up to secure in place for cutting and it leaves very little white space all around the image.  I used a couple small pieces of Eclipse tape to secure the die.  I really like using this tape as it is a little easier to remove from the cardstock and die after it has been run through my Big Shot than the painter’s tape.

I started by securing cardstock and stamp into my MISTI.  I applied versa to the stamp, stamped the image and repeated applying versa and stamping a second time.  I wanted to be sure I had good coverage since it is so hard to see versa on white cardstock.  That is definitely the beauty to using my MISTI. I stamped four flowers, several stems and the sentiment, applied super fine gold embossing powder and heated with my heat gun.  The flowers were cut out using the matching die and the stems were hand cut using my small scissors.

The sentiment base was attached to the gold layer using thin strips of mounting tape.  I used another layer of mounting tape strips to attached the gold layer to the card base.  I like the dimension the double layering adds to the simple card.  I formed the outer edges of the two tallest flowers in the arrangement and attached them to the card base using glossy accents. The center flower was attached over top of the first two with glossy accents.  I cut the fourth flower in half and used the two pieces on the outer lower edges of the arrangement.  The gold stems were tucked in under the flowers and attached with glossy accents.  I used a multi loop bow for the finishing touch.  Check out my multi loop bow video tutorial if you would like to see how I make my bows.

Beauty of Nature

Good Monday morning.  It’s been a few days since I posted here but I have been working on some fun projects that I will share a little later. I have a clean and simple card to share with you today using the Impression Obsession Pink Clouds Stamp Set and Pink Clouds Die Set.

I secured the paper and stamp in my MISTI, applied ink and stamped the image. I am glad I used my MISTI as I ended up having to stamp both the image and sentiment again.  I colored the branch and flower image using Memento markers. I stamped several individual flowers, colored them and cut them out.  I attached the image base directly to the rose colored layer using ATG adhesive and then attached it to the card base using mounting tape.

I formed the individual flowers using my stylus and molding and attached them to the base image using glossy accents.  I dots of red liquid pearls to the center of each flower.  Now wouldn’t you know that after I had finished the project I noticed I had two ink smudges.  One near the sentiment and one up near the top of the branch.  Rather than tossing I cut strips of green cardstock and attached over the smudges.  I guess it was a happy mistake because the strips do add an additional element of interest to the clean and simple design.  That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.  LOL!

Impression Obsession “So Very Thankful” Challenge

Good Thursday morning and welcome to the Impression Obsession “So Very Thankful” design team challenge.  I used the Thanks LC die cut as the main focus of my card and framed it using the All-in-One Frames Rectangles 2.  I created a floral embellishment using flowers from the Spring Wreath set and Foliage.  I used a Spellbinders Matting Basics B to create the purple mat.

The double matted frame and the scalloped frame were attached to the card base using thin strips of mounting tape.  The thanks die cut was attached using tiny thin pieces of mounting tape.

The foliage sections were cut apart, arranged and attached to the frame using glossy accents.  The flowers were formed using my stylus and molding pad.  The flowers were assembled and then attached to the foliage and frame using glossy accents.  I love how the purple and green flowers and foliage look against the all white background.  The addition of the scalloped frame added another element of interest to the clean and simple project.
