Snowy Christmas Tag and 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist in the CLASSroom

Good Sunday Morning. I have a cute snowy Christmas tag to share with you today made using the Essentials by Light Parade stamps and paired with the Home and Hearth die set and Poppystamps Pinpoint Main Street Tags.

I stamped one of the three houses and the car on watercolor paper using black versafine and embossed with clear embossing powder and used Zig brush markers to color the images.  I made a big boo boo coloring the lights on the roof so I traced around the roof of the house on white cardstock and cut it out, crimped and attached it to the roof with glue dots.  I cut out several trees for the scene and to use on the top of the car.  I attached the blue tag to the base tag with ATG adhesive.  I cut an additional white tag and used my deckle scissors to cut the ground snow for the scene and attached to the tag with ATG adhesive.

I tucked the house and trees in behind the snow layers and attached with mounting tape. I folded two tree tops in half and attached to the roof of the car with glossy accents and attached the car in the scene with mounting tape.  I finished the scene by applying falling snowflakes in the sky area and on the trees with a white gel pen and attaching a tiny gold star to the top of one tree.

Home Sweet Christmas Home

Good Tuesday morning.  The weather here in Florida has been beautiful with low humidity and chilly nights. So the only way I can experience a white Christmas is to create it on my card fronts. My project today was made using the new Impression Obsession Front Door paired with the Wrought Iron Fence and an evergreen wreath and door trim made using the Martha Stewart Branch Punch. The brick background was paper is from the Authentique Classic Christmas pad.

I started by attaching the designer paper to the card base with ATG adhesive.  The door was cut and pieced together using double stick tape and then attached to the card base. I cut the fence sections, applied touches of Crafter’s Pick Ultimate Glue to the back of each with my finger and attached them on either side of the door.  Once they were secure I trimmed off the excess fence and finished off the edges by attaching  thin strips of black cardstock. I finished the scene by attaching a hand cut piece of cardstock across the ground area in front of the door.

I created my wreath for the door using a 3/4” circle and used just the top three sprigs all the way around.

I decorated the wreath with punched 1/8” circles attached with glossy accents, applied a multi loop bow  and then applied red stickles to the punched circles for sparkle.  Once the stickles was dry I applied light touches of the Crafter’s Pick with an old paint brush and lightly sprinkled with white flower soft.  You can see my step by step and video wreath tutorial over on Splitcoaststampers.

I used full pieces of  branches to arrange an evergreen bough across the top of the door frame and on both sides of the door.  I didn’t use quite as light a touch when I applied the Crafter’s Pick to the branches as I did for the wreath.  I wanted the snow to look full and fluffy.

I applied a fairly significant layer of glue on the ground section with my finger and applied a full layer of flower soft to create a fluffy carpet of snow.

I love the snowy welcoming door scene.  I want to walk right on in.

My project today is a springy love bird birdhouse card made using the Impression Obsession Love Birds, House Die, Spring Wreath and Tiny Flowers. The circle opening was framed using Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Circles.   The house was cut using Essentials by Ellen Cherry Wood Sheet.  The house shaped base card came in a House Cards set by The Paper Cut that were made specifically to coordinate with the Impression Obsession House Die. I cut the house using the cherry wood sheet, die cut a circle opening with nesting circles and then scored it every 1/2” all the way across the house. I used my deckle scissors to hand cut the roof and base for the house.  I sponged vintage photo ink all of the house to deepen the color of the wood and then rubbed the ink pad directly over the house , roof and  base to add more color.  I especially love how it brought out the scored board lines. I sponged vintage photo ink all around the edges of the house card base to make it blend in with the house.  I attached the house to the card base with mounting tape.  I attached the roof and base pieces to the front of the house using mounting tape.  I wanted the birds, branch and flowers to be bright and springy to contrast with the dark birdhouse.  The whole bird branch was cut in green with an additional leaf section cut in green.  The birds were cut in aqua, cut away from the main branch and attached over top of the birds on the green branch with glossy accents.  Whew!  I hope that made sense.  I cut tiny flowers in different colors, formed them with my stylus and molding pad and attached them with glossy accents.

The larger flower at the roof top was cut from the Spring Wreath, formed and assembled with glossy accents.  The additional branches and large flower were attached to the roof with glossy accents. I applied thin strips of mounting tape to key spots on the back of the branch and double pieces of tape on the back of both birds and attached to the house.  The two pink hearts were attached to the house with double layers of glue dots.

A Very Merry Neighborhood

I love making Christmas house scenes and the Town Builder set pairs perfectly with the Tree Landscape Layers set.  A weeks ago I created a similar scene but did it in all white against a blue background..  This time I couldn’t resist using all red houses and bright green trees to match the designer paper background.

I started by cutting and crimping the snow layers with my wave crimper. The top three layers were attached directly to the card base using ATG adhesive.  The adhesive was applied to the bottom of each layer with the top portions being left free so I could place the houses and trees behind them. The bottom layer was attached with a strip of mounting tape.  The houses were cut in red and then again in white.  I cut the roof portions off the white houses and attached them to the red roof tops with glossy accents. It’s a little hard to see but I added tiny little pieces of green fir branches and a red 1/8” circle to the front of each house for one more touch of Christmas. The tree were cut and crimped.

I tucked the houses in behind the snow layers and attached with strips of mounting tape. The tree were cut, crimped and arranged around the houses and attached with mounting tape.  I had the Very Merry sentiment sitting on my desk leftover from another project and thought it would look cute on the first snow layer.  The letters were attached with 1/8” double stick tape. I cut several stars from the Sun and Moon set and attached them around the sentiment  and to the top of the tallest tree with glossy accents.

Snowy Christmas Cabin

Good Saturday morning.  I have been looking forward to having enough time to create a project using the new Impression Obsession Large Cabin set. It is no secret that I love making scenes of all kinds but I think snowy holiday cards are my favorite. There are several parts and pieces to the cabin set and I had lots of fun putting them together.

Instead of cutting the cabin pieces using brown cardstock I decided to cut everything in white and color using different shades of distress inks and mini applicators. When I was finished coloring everything looked dull to me so I applied versa and embossed with clear embossing powder.  This added a little more shine than I would really have liked but it really made the colors show well.  The cabin is large but still small enough to use on an A2 card front.  I cut several tree and crimped to add a little dimension.

Before I started assembling the card front I placed the card base and trees in the spatter cubby and added falling snow in the sky background and trees by splattering white gesso on with a toothbrush.  I know to really look uniform I should have spattered the cabin as well but I didn’t think the gesso would stick and dry on the embossing.

I assembled the cabin pieces using ATG adhesive, glossy accents and some rolled up double stick tape.  Before attaching the roof I tucked a section of the Icicle Edger underneath and I think it adds such a sweet touch to the cabin.  I applied glue to the roof and applied ultra fine white flower soft.

I embellished the porch, windows and door with sprigs of fir and 1/8” punched circles and added red stickles for sparkle.

Here’s a closer side view of the cabin so you can see the dimension created with the roof and porch banisters.  There is a really cut stone base in front of the porch but it got mostly covered when I added the front snow section.

The trees were attached to the scene with mounting tape.  The final touch was adding the star and applying yellow stickles for another touch of sparkle.  I wish I could be celebrating Christmas in that fun setting.
