Welcome to My Garden

Good Monday morning.  I have a fun garden scene project to share with you today using the new Impression Obsession Garden Furniture paired with the Wrought Iron Fence, Window with Shutter, Grass Border, Leafy Branch and Tiny Flowers.

I started the scene by attaching a double layer of grass border to a thin strip of cardstock with double stick tape.  I applied another layer of double stick tape to the back of the grass border and attached it to the bottom of the card base.  I cut two strips of designer paper for curtains, crimped them and attached to the back of the window with double stick tape. The window was then attached to the card base with double stick tape.  I wanted the open gates to be an invitation into the scene.  I cut a small amount off both sides of the gates so make them fit the scene. I cut thin strips of cardstock to attached to the sides of the gates and then attached them both to the card base with double stick tape.  The table and chair were set in place and attached with rolled glue dots.

I used my stylus and molding pad to form the tiny flowers and attached them to the leafy branch piece and along the grass border with glossy accents.  I applied rolled glue dots to several key spots on the back of the branch and attached it to the window and card base.  Looking at this now as I write my post I wish I had added a couple butterflies.  They would have been a perfect finish.  Oh well….next time!

Sunny Bunnies Scene

Good Sunday afternoon!  I have a sweet bunny scene to share with you today made using the Impression Obsession Sunny Bunnies Stamp Set and Sunny Bunnies Die Set.  I created a scene around the bunnies using the Foliage set , Small Grass Border, the Lawn Fawn Grassy Hillside Pop-Up,  tiny flowers made using the Fiskars 1/4” Flower Punch and framed the scene using the My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle Scallop Frames and Mini Scallop Rectangle Stax.

I started by attaching the Small Grass Border and Grassy Hillside to the back of the frame using double stick tape.  I attached mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it to the scalloped layer.  I created the double matted frame using the largest scalloped frame in the set and a Spellbinders Nestabilities Matting Basics A.

I used my MISTI to stamp the images on hot pressed watercolor paper using black versafine.  I stamped each of the images a few times so I could cut some of the main pieces to paper piece to create dimension. Sadly my paper piecing doesn’t really show well in the photos.  I used Distress reinkers to watercolor the images by placing a small dot of ink into the lid of the matching ink pad.  I paper pieced the head ribbon, yellow collar and arm of the girl bunny and the yellow and blue jacket of the boy bunny.  I attached the pieces  with rolled up glue dots.  These sweet images are pretty small for a full sized card so I took a closer view so you can get a good look at how cute they are.

I cut the foliage sections and hand punched several of each colored flowers.  I used my small tipped stylus and molding pad to form the flowers and attached them to the foliage sections with glue dots.  I tucked the foliage sections in behind the grass layers and attached them with glossy accents.  I attached both images to the card base using mounting tape.

I have gotten several of the Impression Obsession coordinating stamp and die sets.  I am so happy that I have my hand held Dremel to make fast work of filing down the sharp edges of the dies once they are cut apart.  I have mentioned the Dremel several times over the last couple of years but thought I’d mention it again. If you don’t have one of these wonderful tools and you use lots of dies then you will definitely want to add it to your wish list.

Impression Obsession Framed Bunny Scene

I have made so many bunny scene cards using the Impression Obsession Bunny Set but I can’t seem to help myself.  They are just so sweet and fun to use all three together. I like to create a fairly close area for them so I pulled out the Shaker Circle Frames to frame the scene. I used the Grass Border, Small Grass Border, Foliage set and the Tiny Flowers set to surround the bunnies in foliage and pretty flowers and added one tiny butterfly from the Butterfly Set.

I attached double stick tape to the back of the frame and attached the grass sections in place. I applied thin strips of mounting tape to the back of the frame and attached it to the card base. I formed all the tiny flowers using my small tip stylus and molding pad.  I cut the full set of Foliage pieces and attached the tiny flowers to the branches using glossy accents.  I attached rolled glue dots to the back of a few key branch and flowers and applied glossy accents to the bottom of the stems and tucked them in behind the grass sections.

I cut the bunnies using white cardstock and applied Antique Linen and Vintage Photo using a mini applicator.  If you would like to see how I colored my bunnies you can a few step by step photos in my Coloring Die Cut Animals tutorial in the tutorial section on my blog.  I attached a couple tiny leaves and tiny flowers to the neck of each bunny with glossy accents.  The tiny flowers were made using a very small stylus and 1/8” circles.  They are just the perfect size to dress up the bunnies. Each bunny was set in place using a piece of mounting tape. I added a touch of sparkle to the flowers and butterfly using clear Wink of Stella. I wish it showed up better in the pictures.

Lawn Fawn Hillside Pop-Ups and Lawn Fawn Sale

Good Sunday morning.  I ordered several of the new Lawn Fawn dies from Ellen Hutson earlier this week and couldn’t wait to play with them.   I love making little scene projects and the new coordinating pop-up dies create so many different opportunities.   My project today was made using the Stitched Hillside Pop-up, Flower Hillside Pop-up,  Grassy Hillside Pop-up, Leafy Tree Backdrop Portrait and I added the Impression Obsession Bunny Set and Butterfly Set to finish my scene.   All of these coordinating pop-up dies have tabs built right into the die and made to use inside the card to create fun dimensional projects.  I couldn’t resist using on the front of my card and it was easy to remove the tabs.  I love that they can be used inside or out.

I have loved using the Tiny Check designer paper for my backgrounds lately.  It seems to add a happy feeling to the project.  I cut the paper to fit on the front of my A2 sized card base and attached it with ATG adhesive. The leafy tree was cut using Kraft cardstock and I removed the outer frame so I could let it be standing free in the scene.  I misted it with water until it quite damp and applied the brown ink by swiping the ink pad directly over the cardstock and dried with my heat gun.  I attached the leaves to the branches with glossy accents.  I cut tiny thin strips of mounting tape and attached to the tips of the tree limbs and upper back of the tree trunk and attached it to the card base.  I attached the lower part of the trunk flat to the card base so it wouldn’t get in the way of my hillside sections.  I cut the stitched hillside layer and grassy hillside layer in green and the flower hillside in white.  I colored the flower stems and flowers using Memento markers.  The flower hillside set comes with extra flowers and I cut several, formed them with my stylus and molding pad and attached them to the flower heads using glossy accents. I left the tulip flowers as a single layer.

I attached the grassy hillside layer flat to the back of the flower hillside layer using ATG adhesive.  I attached mounting tape to the back of those two sections and attached them to the card base. I applied mounting tape to the back of the hillside layer and attached it to the flower layer.  I I colored the bunny using a mini applicator and antique linen and vintage photo inks and added a couple tiny leaves and a flower to his neck and attached him in the scene with mounting tape. I added the butterflies in the scene for the finishing touch.  I applied clear Wink of Stella to all the flowers and butterflies but it doesn’t really show up well in the pictures.

Ornate Easter Greeting and Ellen Hutson Stamp Sale

Good Saturday morning.  I have a clean and simple Easter card to share with you today made using the Impression Obsession Happy Easter sentiment paired with the Ornate Egg 1, Easter Egg Set, Border Duo 1, Leaves and Stems and Tiny Flowers.

I cut the decorative border piece and attached it to the card base using ATG adhesive along the top and mounting tape along the bottom. I wanted the border to be popped up a little to show off the eyelet design. I applied Crafter’s Pick Ultimate Glue to the back border edge of the decorative egg and attached it to the solid egg base.  I used the Crafter’s Pick as it dries perfectly clear. There are three sizes of eggs in the Easter Egg Set and the largest is a perfect fit for the ornate eggs. Although I only used one of the ornate eggs I linked both below for you to see.

I tied the multi loop bow and attached it to the egg with glue dots. I tucked the stems and flowers in around the bow and attached them with glossy accents. I attached the egg to the card base with mounting tape.  I put a closer picture of the egg below.  It is so pretty with the foliage and flowers. I love the decorative design of the egg layer done in white against the purple background.

I rolled up a strip of double stick tape, applied it to the back of the Happy Easter pieces and attached them to the card base.

My mother-in-law is 90 years old and  lives in a nursing home in New Jersey.  She loves getting my cards and we send her little care packages every week with one or two. She will love getting this pretty card for Easter.
